I am booking a SW flight and noticed at the bottom it has child fares from age 2-11. It says it is dicounted, has anyone done this? How much cheaper is it? Do they charge for booking flights on the phone?

Thanks!

I called just to inquire about the child-fare. It is so not worth being on hold that long. I think I saved like $8 a ticket for the two kids. Still paying an outrageous amount for President's week. But I booked it since from yesterday some fares were sold out. I am a little sick to my stomach for paying $461 r/t per person. I am praying the prices go down and we can get a credit/refund. That just ruined my entire day.

IME it's rarely cheaper than a Wanna Get Away fare. Yes, it is discounted, but from the more expensive, fully refundable fare class. It's worth calling to check, but I'd recommend keeping expectations low so that you won't be too disappointed when it turns out to not be a good deal.

When we booked for our upcoming trip, the child's fare was about $200 more than the online adult fare. LOL Needless to say, my 1y/o is traveling as a full paying adult.
