SW checkin weird situation...

Has anyone who's used southwest checked in and had a number between each passenger?

We checked in today and got numbers B14, B16, B18. I've never had that happen before.

I checked my wife's family and they were all in sequence in which they were all from B20-B26.

Also I assume with these numbers we would just need to go farther back into the plane to find a group of 9 seats together if it's possible.

We have checked in at the 24 hour mark and had 10 numbers between us for our group of 4 on a few different occasions. 9 seats together might be a stretch but possible in the "B" group.

Those gaps happen from time to time and nobody really has a confirmed explanation AFAIK. There are some pretty good theories out there on Flyer Talk.

Nine seats together is going to be a stretch with those numbers. Definitely will have to go further back to have any chance.

That happens a lot. A few months ago I purchased tickets for my son and I with EBCI for both and he got A16 and I got A30.

Anyways I thought 9 together would be far fetch but as long as we can have 3 sets of 3 it should be ok.

Happens to us all the time since we often have different confirmation #'s. My dh and 14yo dd just go ahead on their own and find and save seats. I always board with my 8yo, even if it means moving one of us back to the other's number. And the lines aren't so accurate that they board in exact numerical order.

If you're on a really early morning flight, you shouldn't have trouble getting 3 groups of 3 near each other, since the plane will be empty. Later in the day, it's more likely there will already be "through passengers" on the plane when you board, but low B's still aren't bad numbers, especially if you're willing to sit toward the back of the plane.

ETA: I just noticed you have a 2yo. Though they probably won't let your entire party board early, a couple of you would be able to board with your dd in between the A's and B's.

Wow... that's 36 numbers in between.... if all were on the same confirmation number, that is weird!

Happened to my friend and husband too. She got A-40something and he got B-20something.

ETA: I just noticed you have a 2yo. Though they probably won't let your entire party board early, a couple of you would be able to board with your dd in between the A's and B's.

One adult is permitted. That doesn't mean SWA will always enforce this.

Do 9 people really need to all sit together? As long as you can get adults sitting near young children, I don't see a problem. You should be able to get rows of 3 seats together.
