SW booking question...undecided on return flight, can I book both?

We are not sure what day we will be returning on, so can I book both (while the cost is low) and just cancel the one we don't need? Will SW allow this?

I have plenty of SW miles, so can use miles for all flights.

No, then you will be considered double booked and the airlines may cancel both if they see you confirmed on 2 different flights

That shouldn't be a problem on different days.

I did this one time and booked them all as one way. Couldn't decide on 12/ 2 - 12/9 or 12/4 - 12/11 so I booked them as 4 different flights - no issue.
