Suzy and Perla Skip the Lines Again: From roughing it to the lap of luxury

Wow did I underestimate your passes, I guessed 6 rides x 11 people or 66 passes. Looks like you doubled that number. Keep the posts coming I want to see the rest of the week.

On a personal note, my In-Laws just gave us a week of their time share in Orlando this June! What a surpirse. Looks like we are going to see the Mouse earlier than expected this year!

Wow, I am so behind! I made myself stay off of the boards for two weeks to study for my test and missed a lot.

The story about Boo and her pixie dust is just hilarious!!!! That is totally something my DD would have said/done at that age! :rotfl2:

Your camp site looks great. The Fort Wilderness campgrounds look very nice from your pictures.

The girls look so pretty with their BBB makeovers. I am just to the Pirates League but had to commment. Looks like everyone is having lots of fun. Going back to read. :)

And let me tell you, women, as a whole, feel ugly. Women are NOT ugly. But you cannot convince them of that.

And those powerful voices over ride the truth: that they are lovely.

Mulan wanted to do BBB because she wanted people to call her princess and tell her she was beautiful.

And as Mulan left the castle, she was beautiful. She actually took my breath away. And MANY people stopped her and told her she was beautiful. Time after time. And she BEAMED.

Wow! I thought this whole post was beautiful. I am so glad that Mulan was able to feel as beautiful as I'm sure she is. Women/girls are too hard on themselves (me included).

I love this TR!! I am going to FW in Feb.. My daughter and I are flying down to stay with my parents who are camping there. I camped there the first time I went to Disney World- when 31 years ago! My daughter will be the same age as I was, so it will be nostalgic. We have always stayed at POP in past trips. The pictures are great!

I know! It was all Suzy. When she was in Disneyland last year she felt schooled as the Disneyland folks are NO JOKE when it comes to FP. So she was READY to apply all she knew to WDW. And seriously, our trips will never be the same. :thumbsup2

Congrats on the time share!!!! Woohoo! :woohoo:

Good job on the diligence to study! Suzy and I are working our butts off secularly right now. We have a family business so we know all about super busy times. Sometimes you just have to FORCE yourself to do the not so fun stuff so when you do get to the fun stuff it's funner. :rotfl:

And thanks for the compliments. It was a super amazing trip and worth all the effort we put into it, that's for sure.

Wow! I thought this whole post was beautiful. I am so glad that Mulan was able to feel as beautiful as I'm sure she is. Women/girls are too hard on themselves (me included).

Thanks. Yeah, I'm hard on myself and then I have guilt that I'm teaching my girls to be hard on themselves. So I have guilt for having guilt. It's an endless MOMcycle!

I really love your trip report!! Thanks for sharing :)

 Thanks!

How much fun! The nostalgia was one of Donald's favorite things about the Fort. I hope it brings back as many wonderful memories for you as it did for him.

Not sure everyone would agree with me in our group, but having experienced them both, I like tent camping at the for better than Pop. So I'm sure you'll have a great time!

As we had laid in our tents the night before, Suzy and I both awake but beginning to relax there was a lot of rooting about. Now, mind you, it was past midnight after a grueling 14+ mile, 17 hour nonstop, Disney-palooza. And I had taken a lot of drugs. But I laid there wondering what on earth Suzy and Milo had lost.

I am deaf in my left ear so I have no perception of where sound is coming from. So after a LONG time Suzy says from her tent, "You hear that?" And I said, "What did you lose?" To which her response was a ridiculous amount of giggling.

Because she and Milo were tucked neatly in bed.

And had never been up.

So after getting her breath back she said, "What on earth did you think Milo and I were doing digging in the leaves and dirt at 1 am? It's an animal, silly."

Well, now, this made a lot more sense. Because it was prolonged digging and rustling all about.

I mention this here, instead of the night before, as I had forgotten about it when I woke up.

But I shouldn't have.

At 8 am I woke up. I could breath! Yea! I lay there snug as a bug, reading on my iphone and listening to all the birds. I tried to isolate a single bird call I knew and I couldn't come up with one. What ARE those Florida birds? Were I to camp again I'd have to take a bird book. It bothered me a bit to not have a visual on the birds as I listened to them. But they were happy and that made me happy.

At 8:30 the Suzy clan began to stir and there was a LOT of shushing as they were trying to not wake up the 3 a.m.ers. But really, we were all living on a tiny square with no walls between us. Shushing and whispering doesn't really stop everyone else from hearing you. Plus, it's outside. A tent doesn't stop bright sunlight.

By 9 a.m. everyone was awake and Suzy and I, still in jammies, had gotten breakfast going. Pancakes and bacon. But we only had one griddle and we had 11 people so we made a big rule that NO CHILDREN were allowed in the food tent so no one burned themselves and then we fed everyone from youngest to eldest. Even though we stated the rule clearly, my most stressful thing this morning was stopping those kids from burning themselves. Why do you have to tell kids things a million times? Why?

Milo and Donald had work to do, and at one point the wind whipped and knocked the food tent over a bit! So they battened down the hatches and fussed. And their reward was to get food last. Poor guys.

While all of this was going on I dug for pancake syrup, etc. And discovered the bagels had been eaten by a creature! :scared1:

Now going WAY back in Suzy's history when she and Milo were first married they lived in a trailer in a field. Which means field mice. And Suzy did NOT like those mice. That is an understatement. So she was not a happy camper about the nibbles and we knew the whole kitchen would need arranged.

By 10 am the kids were all in bathing suits and ready to go to the pool with their dads. Three negative things happened here, in addition to the mice bites. They didn't effect our entire trip but they did take a bit away from what was supposed to be a chill out morning.

First, I was spraying Boo and at some moment she opened her eyes and turned and sprayed sunblock DIRECTLY into her eye. Straight in. We rinsed it but she screamed like you can't believe because it HURT and it was brilliant red for a couple days causing me a bit of stress.

This led to number two: I was so traumatized by over sunblocking Boo that I did a terrible job on Ariel. So her poor little face burnt to a crisp. So Boo's eyeball was red for the next 4 days and Ariel's face was red for the next 4 days. Bad mother award right here.

Finally, at the very last minute McQueen wanted his sunblock put on in a specific way by a specific person at a specific time. I literally thought Milo was going to have a vein pop right out of his head. And McQueen should be VERY grateful we were in a public campground going to a very public pool at Disney World or let me tell you, there would have been a knock down, drag out fight.

And I'm not sure if you ever fought with your parents when you were a little kid, but I did. And if you had good parents, like I did, you don't generally win the fights you pick with your parents when you are 7. You lose. Big time.

But we were at Disney World. And Suzy and I had work to do so we needed McQueen to be at the pool and happy. Not being disciplined at the campground.

I was not involved with this, but Suzy and Milo did work it out with him without losing their parental authority and without him losing any privileges. But it was touch and go.

Once the sound of their voices faded away, Suzy and I got to work. First, we cleaned and re-organized our own tents. Then she braved Buzz and Charming's tent. While I rearranged the food tent and secured our food and trashed everything eaten by the animal(s).

By this point it was HOT in our tents and we were sweating big time. But we were pretty much done and headed over for some peaceful shower time.

What mom doesn't love a quiet shower all by herself with no interruptions? Sweet luxury!

Here are the pictures from the morning:

My reorganized food tent (taken on a different day) with the tables on the side and not the center and the coffee pot on a table and not a container. This worked a LOT better than the previous arrangement.
IMG_4946.jpg

While Suzy and I finished up and took a tiny breather, everyone arrived. Milo had been texting Suzy as the kids would have stayed at the pool all day but we didn't want them getting too hungry because low blood sugar when you have 7 kids is a really big deal and the fastest way to have cranky, whiny, in trouble kids. When he and she felt it was time to pull the plug, they all came back.

The BBB gel in my girl's hair was mostly out. But they went into the showers and were able to get the rest out themselves.

I had wanted Boo to shower with the big girls but she WOULD NOT. Grrr. So I ended up letting her off the hook and got the big girls 100% ready, hair braided, and them eating snacks and reading books and then took Boo over to the wheelchair shower and was able to shower her and dress her while being dressed myself and not getting wet. Did I mention how much I loved that wheelchair shower?

I brought her back to the food tent and braided her hair while she ate some cheese and pepperoni and I had a Coke Zero.

I absolutely LOVED the way my girls looked this day. I loved these hair bows.

Boo, however, was immediately back in the dirt getting dirty. Oh well.

This picture was taken on AK day but I include here as this morning we got our campsite 100% the way we wanted it and it was a wonderful home. You can see just how great and what a great Disney home it was from this picture:
IMG_4947.jpg

We opted to drive to Epcot. This was fast and gave us an opportunity to ride the new trams. It also gave Donald and I a chance to get briefly lost on the way getting out of the Fort.

Jack-Jack took the few extra moments they had to express his happiness at being at WDW:
IMG_0361.jpg

Finally we are definitely going the right way:
IMG_4860.jpg

Always take a picture of the sign at the end of the row you parked in!
IMG_0902.jpg

We loved the new tram doors. It made it feel much more secure. And once you figured out how to open them, it was great.

We stopped to check out the Toy Story topiaries. And there was a Photopass photographer there to catch the moment:
Photo0219FourBySix.jpg

And this is one of my favorite photos of the entire trip. The photographer told us to make silly faces. And for some reason this led Suzy and I to make our "check us into the mental hospital" faces.
Photo0228FourBySix.jpg

I, especially, look bizarre.

The topiaries, on the other hand, looked gorgeous. I LOVED them. I LOVED the Epcot F&G show. LOVED LOVED LOVED.

I kept texting my mom photos of every flower I saw which led her to say to me around Thursday, "Are you only looking at flowers or are you doing other things at Disney World?"

That is where I leave you tonight. I hope I don't bore you to death with Flower pictures today. The first day I had a zillion BBB photos. This day I took a ridiculous amount of F&G pictures and felt very self-righteous about the restraint I showed as I wanted to take a picture every two seconds. Not to mention the Photopass came with bonus F&G photos of just the flowers and topiaries.

We were on our way to Mexico to begin our "drink around the world" plan.

Stay tuned for that!

It took me awhile, but I am finally all caught up.

I am amazed at Suzy's Fastpass collecting ability!! :thumbsup2

I love your blue Epcot Tshirts with the big yellow design on the front. Too cute. And the girls' hairbows look great.

Ugh about the animal getting into your food. That is definitely a drawback to camping. Any guesses on what it was? Your food tent does look better organized now, though.

The flowers at Epcot are GORGEOUS!!! I would have been taking pictures every two seconds, too.

I love your silly face photopass pic. It is priceless! What really cracked me up though was the faces that Mulan and Ariel were making!!! :lmao:

Well, now, this made a lot more sense. Because it was prolonged digging and rustling all about.

Milo had seen an armadillo when he had went to the comfort station earlier so I think that's what we heard. Whatever it was was BIG and seemed like right outside our tent.

Once the sound of their voices faded away, Suzy and I got to work. First, we cleaned and re-organized our own tents. Then she braved Buzz and Charming's tent. While I rearranged the food tent and secured our food and trashed everything eaten by the animal(s).

I had 2 tents and 4 boys so needless to say it took me the same time to clean my area as it did Perla to hers AND the food tent. Also, I decided to do a couple loads of laundry since we were so close to the comfort station. This worked out great. Two things of note : First, there was a family in there doing laundry, but what struck me about this was it was a dad, mom and maybe sister in-law, plus about 4 kids ranging in ages 16-20 (probably). I thought this was odd. They were taking the oppurtunity to teach their kids to do laundry. But they were soooo old, and is it really that complicated? :confused3 Second, the dryer only took 1 cycle to dry my denim. Ive never been to a public laundry where that was true so good to know!

We loved the new tram doors. It made it feel much more secure. And once you figured out how to open them, it was great.

I'm pretty sure Milo and I walked to the front gate here. :lmao::lmao:

I love all of the F&G pictures. Your photopass pictures turned out really nice too.

When we stayed in the fort we didn't have a mouse problem we had a racoon problem. Those recoons can get into ANYTHING!

Mulan and Ariel are good at making goofy faces, right? I know. It's a good picture all around.

Milo had seen an armadillo when he had went to the comfort station earlier so I think that's what we heard. Whatever it was was BIG and seemed like right outside our tent.

Of COURSE you walked. I didn't note it, but I should have known. The boys rode with us.

When we stayed in the fort we didn't have a mouse problem we had a racoon problem. Those recoons can get into ANYTHING!

The F&G is the bomb and if Donald and I ever take a couples only romantic trip it'll be a big battle as to whether we go at F&W or F&G. He'll vote the food and wine, and I'll go for gardens.

As for the animal, it really could have been anything, I don't know what kind of teeth marks armadillos make, but something was making it's presence known BIG time by noise and teeth marks. We were quite careful from here on out. And had I known about the BEARS you all say exist in Florida, I probably would have been even MORE careful.

I think we ended up locking all of our food in the mini van one of the years that the racoons were really bad.

We'll be at F&G again next year. I can't wait! I love how they change the theme every year.

I just got DH to agree to a 3rd trip on our AP's that we're getting next month. So we'll be going in June for Star Wars, Sept. for low crowds and then top it off with 2 weeks at the end of April next year. :)

Yeah, had we had any more troubles, into the vans the food would have quickly gone!

And Woohoo!!! Yippee skippy!!! to more trips to Disney. Sounds like you have a great dh like me!

So I left you in Epcot. But I'm gonna back track just a tiny bit and talk about bag check a tiny bit. Bag checkers are NOT all created equal. And this day Milo and Suzy got a serious bum rap. They got this guy who checked EVERYTHING. Tiny little pockets where nothing could possibly be hiding, the stroller, every compartment of the stroller. Seriously, if he could have frisked them, he would have. And a full body scan would have been even BETTER by his book.

The bag check annoys me a bit. It takes away some of the magic and I don't see how it is actually safer. Unlike going into a courthouse or airport where there are metal detectors and x-ray scanners, if I wanted to take a gun or bomb into Disney I certainly would NOT put it in my backpack.

So what are they looking for? Pot? Drugs? Then where are the dogs to smell this stuff out?

Maybe I am naive, but I cannot imagine Disney bag checks really make me safer. The only thing I can imagine is it lowers their insurance? Don't know. But if I have to have my bag checked, I'd prefer it to be consistent across the board. I've had bag checkers who would strip search and bag checkers who barely glance in my bag before waving me on.

And this is one bag checker, we could have done without.

In fact, he was so slow, like a bizarre safety patrol sloth, that ANOTHER bag checker had to come and help as a line had formed, which if you look at the Epcot vehicle entrance, there wasn't a lot of traffic at this moment.

So after we were deemed non-criminal, THEN we got our Photopass pictures and I started my "take a photo every 30 seconds" plan. As we walked to Mexico.

We really wanted to see Tink but there was a huge line and we knew we'd hit up later early in the a.m.

But Tigger did need his picture taken:
IMG_0904.jpg

While Boo and I moseyed about, Suzy, of course, ran to get Test Track FP's. Donald also got really excited about the butterfly house as we have done butterfly houses before and have had butterflies land all over us so we are BIG fans. But I was hungry so I kept him on task.

We did stop to get a KP mission we hadn't done before. Italy!
IMG_4869.jpg

Hello, Lightening!
IMG_4870.jpg

Despite Suzy getting FP's, she and her family still beat us to Mexico as we had taken forever. And Milo spied a GREAT table right next to the water. So even though they had guilt as we had to eat inside, what choice was there? A great table is a great table? Charming sat with us.
IMG_1391.jpg

IMG_1392.jpg

IMG_1393.jpg

Check it out!
IMG_1394.jpg

Look at Suzy's super awesome earrings and how perfectly these shirts matched her eyes. Milo and Charming felt this color was too feminine, but everyone takes their turn when you have to have matching shirts. I wore orange which is NOT my color. They could both sacrifice a "moderately" girlie color so Suzy could look this great.
IMG_1396.jpg

I don't have a photo of our table but we loved it. It was a center booth that sat 6. We got 3 meals, I think. We LOVED LOVED our food here. Donald and I split a Lime Raspberry Margarita which was SUPER YUM!!! Can't wait to have another. The margarita place in Mexico has yucky margaritas, in my opinion, so it's very nice to now have the counter service place, the tequila bar, and San Angel all have margaritas I love.

For our meals we got two chicken taco plates and one beef taco plate. Plus, churros, of course!!! The tacos would be plain but with the pico they are yummy. And Charming got nachos which we all had too and they were delicious.

Mexico CS gets 2 thumbs up times 11!

IMG_1397.jpg

Next up? We needed to buy Passports for our kids to do the kidcot stations. You can do the kidcot stations without passports, but the passports do add to the fun. I asked a CM where to get them and we were escorted to the little store next to the tequila bar. I bought 2 (they are $10.00 a piece) and Suzy bought 1.

It is at this point we lost Milo. As a BIG thing on his Mexico agenda was his absolute fave: hibiscus margarita at the tequila bar there. His detour meant he missed, yet again, the Three Caballero ride. It's Boo's favorite so we had to do it right away.

IMG_4873.jpg

P3210082.jpg

IMG_4877.jpg

Donald taped the entire thing for her so she can watch it whenever she wants at home. This is the watching what he taped while the rest of us did the Kidcot station (sequentially, this is in a minute, but I put it here since it was about this ride):
IMG_1400.jpg

After this we walked around a bit, all tasted Milo's drink, and took this important photo:
IMG_0366.jpg

Grrr.... I hate Duffy the bear. I have nothing against teddy bears in general. But why, oh why, are they shoving this bear down my throat???? Who is liking this bear? I know Disney is great at marketing. And I know in general they shove things down my throat and I accept it, and sometimes even welcome it. But I did not want this Duffy bear, I still don't. And I can't imagine a time when I will.

They have changed the kidcot hand out to a Duffy bear instead of the mask. And there is a Duffy bear at EVERY corner in Epcot.

Seriously.

So after gathering everyone, we headed to the Kidcot place to get started on our passports:
IMG_1187.jpg

You see this stupid Duffy bear?
P3210085.jpg

IMG_4878.jpg

I am sorry for this random woman and this not so great a photo of her. But I wanted to show you that instead of crayons they now have you color your not a mask but a stupid Duffy bear with Sharpies and not crayons. I'm not really sure how I feel about this. I know it is permanent on the bear, but it is also permanent on the children' clothing. My kids never did get any Sharpie on their clothes but it did take away a bit from my relaxation in World Showcase. Instead of chilling and watching my kids color I spent a bit of time saying, "DON'T GET THAT NEAR YOUR CLOTHES!"

IMG_4879.jpg

But the bears looked cool with the brighter Sharpies versus the more subtle crayons. If only they weren't stupid Duffy bears.

Did I keep a single one as a souvenir? No. No I did not. Do I have masks from previous years? Yes. Yes I do. Would I have kept another thing, like a Mickey Mouse or an Epcot Ball? Yes. Yes I would have. But not a piece of weird Disney World propaganda.

Yes, Disney can ALMOST do no wrong, but I am not brain washed. When something is wrong, it's wrong.

So I leave you to ponder your own feelings on Duffy the bear. And if you agree that this bear is being forced upon us, one of you decide to take action and I'll follow your lead. I'm more of a complainer than an actual revolutionist. But if YOU could please start a revolution, I would be eternally grateful.

We did stop to get a KP mission we hadn't done before. Italy!

Just so no one gets confused. There actually is no mission in Italy. There is a field station in Italy that will hand out the mission for Germany. The countries with missions are Mexico, Norway, Germany, China, Japan, France, and UK.

Look at Suzy's super awesome earrings and how perfectly these shirts matched her eyes. Milo and Charming felt this color was too feminine, but everyone takes their turn when you have to have matching shirts. I wore orange which is NOT my color. AWWWWWW Shucks! :flower3: Thanks for the kind words, Perla. But how could you forget to mention my hat. :rotfl: Funny thing was, I got several comments and compliments on this silly Goofy hat. Mostly by CMs. I think because its a few years old and maybe not sold anymore?

So I leave you to ponder your own feelings on Duffy the bear.

So how do you really feel about Duffy?? :lmao:

As for me, I also refuse to accept a "build a bear" copycat at Disney no matter what the make believe world traveler and Mickey connection that they've made up is. My reason is this - There are plenty of "real" characters at Disney. I LOVE  all Disney characters. The more the better. But Duffy is a build a bear, not a beloved Disney favorite.

Yippee -- two updates!

I am so with you on the Duffy "issue." I wouldn't have even known what it was if not for the Disboards. I wonder what the average tourist thinks of it. And really - what does it have to do with the countries??

OMG! I so AGREE! When we went to Epcot in November and we were letting the kids do the stations---well after one station and that boring bear they were done---I saw the pile of PERMANENT sharpies and thought what the heck are they thinking. Seriously giving permanent markers to children. Of course one of my children ended up with blue marker on her brand new pink Disney sweatshirt that we had to buy because it was super cold that day and her zipper on her jacket broke.

Anyway I just could not believe that other parents are ok with the kids using permanent markers. What was Disney thinking??

Great revew on Mexico.
I think I agree that Duffy is a little too preset in Epcot and I miss the masks too.

Yes, sorry for the confusion. Guess I'll leave you in suspense for which country we actually did.

I wouldn't know who he was either. And knowing who he is doesn't help me.

That would have made me soooo mad if they had gotten sharpie on a new expensive Disney sweatshirt! Guess I need to start two revolutions:

NO DUFFY BEAR!
NO SHARPIES!

Great revew on Mexico.

Yup, and each country giving you a cool little thing for each country. It was way better.

Though the Lightening McQueen Race Around the World sticker books they had for the F&G show were relatively cool. I'll give them that.

But it didn't make up for the Sharpies and Duffy. And the added stress.

What can we chant? "Crayolas, crayolas! You're ruining our clothes! Who is this stupid bear we really, really loathe?!"

How's that? Whose with me?

Let's just make sure we picket with poster board written on withOUT using Sharpies to make them.

I love all of the F & G topiaries. They are just amazing.

I was really concerned about the Sharpies before our trip, but my kids surprised me and did really well with them. I didn't let my 2yo use them though. I would have preferred crayons for him.

As for Duffy, I can say with reasonable confidence that the market is 5 yo girls. My 5yo got a Duffy on our last trip and has taken it EVERYWHERE with her ever since. We also still have her Duffy on a stick which is hanging up in the kitchen. She loves Duffy. Personally, he is cute and very soft, but I could live without him.
