I don't know whether this is the right place to post this but I have been really enjoying all these wonderful food porn threads!::yes::

I want to ask all your expert advice. You see, I have a confession to make - I have never tried sushi!

I consider myself to be a fairly adventurous diner and I like to try new things - I love meat, fish, shellfish, vegetables, spicy food - allsorts! I have just never gotten around to trying sushi.

Now, in August we will be travelling to WDW and we have some great ADRs booked. I really want to try new things and sushi could be one of them - especially at the California Grill!

Can you tell me - what's a good thing for a first timer to try? And what does sushi actually taste like? Do you eat it with chopsticks?

There have been so many pictures of beautiful sushi posted on here that with many rave reviews that I am sorely tempted to take the plunge. Will I like it? I sort of hope that I will love it and become addicted. I'm just scared in case I order it and regret it (and look lovingly at what the rest of the family have chosen!!)

So, whaddya reckon? Any thoughts? Pics?

Help me Obi-wan Kenobi - You're my only hope!!

DH is quite a sushi lover. He just made it for dinner tonight, in fact :). His favorite is made with raw tuna. I'm a little wimpy and prefer cooked shrimp or crab. He has had sushi many times on our WDW trips. He swears that the best is at Kimonos (at The Swan, I believe). I have heard great things about CA Grill as well. Good for you to try something new :thumbsup2 !

I've not tried it at CG, but I'm sure it is amazing there.

Just DON'T get it from Yakitori House (CS in Japan). It is pre-made and refrigerated. It would NOT be a good first experience.

I think most people start with a California Roll. That has crab, avacado, cucumber, seaweed, rice, and sometimes sesame seeds. Almost any roll would be a good place to start. Have you thought of trying it before your trip? I think I'd do that before I'd order something at CG that I possibly wouldn't like. I'd hate for you to waste your meal there. The food looks amazing. :goodvibes
