I can't stand sea food, but my new wife wants to try some really good Sushi when we go on our Honeymoon in Sept. She tried her first sushi at Disney a few years ago but it was just a stand somewhere in Japan pavilion at Epcot. This time around we are upgrading to the deluxe dining plan and plan on eating at 5 Sig. resteraunts during our stay. We will also be doing a land and sea deal for a 3 day cruise if the boat has better sushi.

The places we want to eat are (but not written in stone if I can get some good advice) are:

Narcossees
Yachtmans steak house
Citricos
Fulton's
Artist Point

We also get 5 regular sit downs with the deluxe so if that is where the best Sushi is we can do that

I had heard that California Grill has the best sushi, but they have a bunch of different types. What do you think is the best dish?

California Grill has pretty good sushi. There's also Tokyo Dining in Epcot (and I think you can get sushi at Teppan Edo). The Polynesian has a sushi bar in the evenings next to the Kona Cafe. But some people say the best sushi on property is at Kimonos in the Swan hotel. Hope that helps!

I think Kimonos at the Swan has the best sushi. It's not on the dining plan and there's very little besides sushi on the menu. Kimonos is a bar that does karaoke later in the evening but if you dine early, you can avoid it.

Ca Grill is second IMO.

Besides the places mentioned by PP, Wolfgang Pucks Cafe at DTD has sushi but I don't think you can get it with dining plan credits. I never do dining plan so I'm not sure.

Kona has sushi rolls available at lunch and dinner.

We found Splitsville to have very good sushi and they are on the Dining Plan. Kimonos at the Swan is not on the Dining Plan.

Everything he said.

CG sushi is "pretty good" unfortunately it used to be "outstanding" but the with the changes and their sushi chef leaving last year, I think pretty good is the better description. Their best sushi dish is the tuna four ways which is now considered a meal.

Tokyo Dining for a traditional sushi experience is the better of the three on the dining plan suggested at this point, but Kimonos is tops. You could then use Tokyo for one of your regular sit downs.

In terms of your current list of restaurants...

Citricos is our favorite. They used to be tied with CG, but with the CG changes, I think Citricos now wins. Artist is very good as well. I would drop Yachtsman and Narcoosees for Flying Fish and California Grille (or Jiko). I think Yachstman is the most overrated steak house on Disney and their steaks and service are an embarrassment to chop houses. Narcoosees is tops in ambiance, but the food is just pretty good, so for the price, difficult to justify.

Hope my 2cents helps.

Teppan Edo has Sushi as an App and it was pretty good. WE are doing Toyko Dining this summer for the sushi. We were at CG in Jan and the sushi was good.

Thanks for the info.

I myself have no idea how Sushi can be "good" or "bad". It's raw fish... if you don't cook it doesn't it all taste the same? :rotfl2:

I think we may switch out Fulton's for Cali. if that is where the best Sushi is. Gotta keep my girl happy! :thumbsup2

Raw fish that isn't very fresh isn't very good. Most of the rolls are very trendy and not traditional "raw fish" sushi. It really does depend on what her idea of sushi is - raw fish on top of rice, or, trendy sushi rolls.

My take on Disney sushi.

My DW and I have had sushi at CG (new and old), Wolfgang's, Tokyo Dining. CG is excellent as far as the tuna 4 ways goes. But their selection is extremely limited. Wolfgang's is pretty decent with a decent selection. We recently (a few weeks ago) finally tried Tokyo Dining and were very disappointed. The selection is okay (traditional), but the quality of the of fish was far below what we expected.

I think you might have just had an off night at Tokyo dinning when you went. We have some incredible sushi restaurants around us and we always go to Tokyo dinning, usually twice on our trip. It is always so fresh and their volcano roll is to die for. My sister and I always get a sashimi salmon and it is the freshest best sashimi we have ever had, I highly recommend Tokyo dinning

My family and I are big sushi eaters and we've found multiple places at Disney that prepare delicious offerings. Our two favorites are Kimonos at the Swan and "Kona Island" at the Polynesian that offers sushi in the evenings. California Grill is very good too, however we always find the other two places more convenient if all we want to eat is sushi and not a big meal. Hope you and your wife have a lovely time!

I have never had sushi at CG that I din't like. Favs are the Spicy Kazan Roll :cloud9: the Dragon Roll & the new Pork Belly Nigiri.

I was concerned how Yoshi's retirement would impact things but I have yet to be disappointed.

Kimono's is on my "must try" list but the location never seems to be convenient for us.

I've had the sushi at Kimono's & I agree w/all other PPs that it is excellent! IMO one of the best meals I've ate so far (though have not tried any Deluxe restaurants yet).

I'm always keeping an eye out for good sushi on property & have been seeing lately more people posting good reviews about the sushi at Splitsville. That as well as the stand at the Poly are on my will-try list. :)
