I don't want to step on any ones toes. But I thought that since everyone is talking about the new Survivor that will be coming on soon (9-16), that we should go ahead and start up a new thread just for the new show.

Hope that was alright? I will add a link on the old All-Star thread to let everyone know were to come to talk about the new show.

So what does everyone think the new suprise will be for the new season? Just saw a commercial with Rupert, saying that this one will have things in it that no other show had.

I already know that it will be the guys against the girls, like it was in the Amazon. And we will have two cancer survivors, one male and one female. The male survivor lost his leg to the cancer. It will be intrusting to see how he adapts the game and all the challanges.

Well, heres hoping for a great season!

I'm on board. I was wondering if someone would start a new thread any time soon. Thanks. :D

Are you sure about guys vs. girls? I was looking forward to the show until I found out about that. I like it better when the teams are mixed. :sad2:

Looking forward to Survivor Vanuatu! Let the discussion begin. :sunny:

I'm excited for the new Survivor! I hadn't thought about the guy who lost his leg competing in challenges....can the prosthetic leg be in the water? Or will he have to remove it for water challenges? I'm just betting he'll adapt well either way.

I just hope that this one will be more entertaining than All Stars. Pearl Island was really great to watch - but the All Star show was a let down. :D

I am so excited for this season to start!

I'm wondering if they'll do 3 teams like they did for All-Stars since there's 18 people.

I heard a commercial on the radio this morning that it's guys vs. girls again. I'm not so sure I like that idea. Haven't seen any of the Rupert commercials yet.

I haven't read all the bios yet - didn't know there was a guy who lost a leg. Which one is he? Betcha he'll go far - look how well Christy did and she was deaf!

Thankfully I work at night so I don't have to be at home while my DW and oldest DD watch it.

I'm going to be behind this season. That's the one thing I hate about school this semester -- the class I'm looking forward to the most meets on Thurs nights.

I'm in too! We will be excited for it to start but not looking forward to guys vs. girls.....that was the one I watched the least of!

Three teams would be different.......Can't wait until the 16th now!

Can't wait for the new season! Not crazy about the guys -vs- girls, though.

I'm glad that it's "regular" people again. I really didn't enjoy All Stars. Hope they never do it again. I liked the Guys VS Girls season. It made for an interesting merge.

Yep, quite sure. ET did a small story on the up coming show. And they talked about how it will be guys -v- the girls.

And then they talked about the two cancer survivors.

They showed the guy, but I missed his name. But he was a young, white guy. I think it was Brook, but I could be wrong. He was walking around on the sandy beach and was handling it pretty well. But what I was wondering about was the running and all the sudden having to get down on your stomach to go under something, I just don't seem him doing that very fast. It looks like that is something that will have to be done pretty early in the show, because I saw it in one of the Rupert commercials.

The swimming never crossed my mind, but that is something to think about. Will they let him take it off, and let him sit on the pier and take off from there. It should be intrusting to watch.

I've also heard that it will be Guys vs. Gals, but that it will somehow be different than the way they did it in the Amazon.

Sorry, I AM a little behind in this, but where exactly is Vanuatu?

As for the comment about having to "make" the cancer survivor take his prosthetic leg off during swims, I don't believe they can "make" anyone do anything. However, there are prosthetic limbs that are specifically made for swimming, and since they are oft times, lighter, than your own part, the person would be faster.

I agree, it shall be an interesting year.

I looked up the profiles:
The man is James "Chad" Crittenden. Crittenden went to the doctor to have a lump on the bottom of his foot removed and discovered find it was a cancerous tumor. Synovial Sarcoma is a rare and deadly form of cancer (comprising less than one percent of all cancers) and amputation was necessary just below the knee. His recovery was miraculously quick, and he completed a triathlon nine months after the surgery. After many prostheses and much development, he feels that he has almost reached his post-surgery potential. Crittenden has been cancer-free for almost two years and has decided to take a leave of absence to be a full-time dad, which he has been planning for some time. He looks forward to the adventure.

By the sounds of this - I don't think he will have much of a problem "keeping up"!

The woman is Dr. Scout Cloud Lee. In the 1990s, Lee was diagnosed with a fatal form of cancer, melanoma, and managed to beat the odds and is going strong 14 years later. Most recently, she received a total knee replacement, which she refers to as her "bionic knee."
