Survivor: Palau...official Thread

I was surprised that nobody thought of using some of the fabric and some straight pieces of wood to fashion some kind of a splint for Jeff. It wouldn't take away a lot of pain but it would have kept his ankle from weakening more.

And why why why does Ulong keep sitting willard out in REWARD challenges? Obivously he is their weaker player...he should sit out the Immunity challenges....because THAT'S where you need your strenght...who cares if you miss out on a sewing kit - better to have your immunity.

Willard is on Koror, not Ulong. This strategy has worked for them so far since they have won all of the immunity challenges. I'm not sure that I understand your point.

That is what I said to DH. I would have do that and kept him around for several more days just to see how he could do. Plus he was getting really good at cutting those coconuts. Plus he is nice to look at.... :teeth:

I agree. I am so surprised he gave up that easy. I would have said "Look I hurt my ankle but I can still do stuff around camp. We can give it a couple of days and see how it gets. He just gave up a chance at a million dollars. :earseek:

He said that he knows his body and that he heard his ankle go crunch. Even under ideal circumstances, I doubt that his ankle would be back to 100% by the time the competition ends. I do think that Ulong made a mistake by sending him home instead of Kim because he could do a lot of things for the tribe around camp, but time will tell.

I totally agree! SOOO nice to see new and different challenges...and not recycled ones from past survivors. I really liked the immunity challenge last night...I wonder how long it really went on for.

I was hoping they'd give us an elapsed time on the challenge as well. I'd love to know how long it went on.

Tom definitely had the advantage in that challenge. After carrying all his firefighting equipment, those sandbags probably felt like nothing.

I could not believe how brutal that reward challenge was!! Wow.

I wasn't surprised that Jeff gave up. He's a personal trainer. He knows his body. I'm sure if he thought he could've toughed it out for a while longer, he would've

Did I miss something in the instructions of the immunity challenge? I did not understand that one at all. Were they supposed to walk around a certain number of times before they could try to catch up with the other team? I did not understand why it took so long for a team to move in. At one point, Ulong was ahead, and it did not seem like it would of been that difficult to catch up to Koror and touch them. I was so confused! I figured I must of missed a piece of the game rules.

Also, I think Ulong was smart to get rid of Jeff instead of Kim. When he told the camera what he had done to his ankle, he said something about "re-injuring" from an injury from last year. So, HE knew the pain he was in, heck, I winced for him, everytime I saw him try to walk on it. He knew what he did to his ankle, it was not like, oh, I twisted my ankle, let's wait to see what happens. He knew how bad the injury was from before, so he knew it was not an overnight fix. If they had the upper hand like Koror (extra players) they could of kept him, and sat him out of certain challenges. But they do not have that option, and Kim may not be an asset to the team, but she is not dragging the team down, and that is exactly what would of happened if they kept Jeff. His injury would of been a nightmare in challenges.

I was surprised that Angie did not last long in the immunity challenge. She seemed so strong in all the other ones.

no, the only rule was if you bowed out, you had to hand your backpack off to someone else...so, the weight was still in the challenge....didn't have to walk around so many times.....i too wished the time clock would have been displayed....it looked like it took a long time....one of the reasons was the tide was coming in, so it was getting harder each time around.

i thought so too......she seems 2nd strongest (to Stephanie) and I was surprised she bowed out sooner rather than later. FWIW: Stephanie lasted longer than Coby... :rotfl2:

It looked like Angie turned her ankle during the challenge.

I have to get to work, but I had to ask:

Why didn't Angie make a skirt or shorts or SOMETHING to wear? She doesn't have the body to wear those skimpy panties!

Loved the challenges - this season is DEFINITELY more interesting than last.

Ok, back to work......

Well I was surprised in the challenge that Angie bowed out as early as she did. I'm loving the fact that she is one of the strongest ones and wasn't picked until the end when the teams were divided up.

Everyone keeps talking about how strong Tom was, but geeze, Bobby Jon was carrying 80 lbs. (and didn't look tired at all, until the very end) and Tom only had 60 lbs. Tom should have easily been able to carry more since the fire equipment that he wears alone, is about 50 lbs. The other surprise was Ian. I said to DH "he looks like he's just out for a run with the dolphins." He's very misleading 'cause he's so tall and thin. He's strong and people don't realize it.

Stephanie is very strong (and hides it well) and definitely an asset to her team.

I'm liking this one much more than Survivors of the past. It's hard to have a favorite team at this point because there is so much personality. (Although I have a definite dislike of Kim and wished that she was gone already....with Colby following her. Just don't like or trust either of them.) I think the stronger ones, while an asset at this point, are really going to have to fight to last to the end.

Oh well...off to check my fantasy team of Bobby Jon, Stephanie, Tom and Angie.

I think Angie will surprise many people in the long run, and may go pretty far unless she really upsets someone. Steph is really strong, she could be perceived as a threat to others later on, especially the weaker ones who feel threatened.

Coby is about worthless, he was pretty crummy to Angie early on so I hope she gets to vote him off later after the merge. I want Angie or Steph to win with Tom as a close 3rd for wanting to win.

i think Kim will go at the next tribal for Ulong....that will only leave 2 girls-Angie and Stephanie..the 2 strongest women (out of all the women Survivors-IMHO). Funny how Angie did seem like she was the first to be going home...now that Stephanie has gotten to know her, I think they are becoming friends? :confused3 They are both strong and could have a good aliance.... and by the way.... what is with James' nose??? Skiing anyone? My gosh....I hope he wins just to be able to get a nose job, poor dude!

So, do ya think they actually ATE the snakes?

:crazy2:

I have such a phobia abt snakes, even little garter ones...... I could hardly stand it when they were hacking that thing apart.....

ITA! Jeff said he heard and felt a "pop" when he injured himself- that sounds pretty serious. Sounds like he's had ankle problems before, too, so he knows when something bad happens. I'd want to get off the island and to some professional medical help if something like that happened to me. He knew he was out of the runnung for the million, and it doesn't seem worth doing permanent damage to your ankle to tough it out for a few more days on that godforsaken island.

The guy is a personal trainer. I think he would have enough experience to know how bad an injury it was. If he heard a pop, he could have pulled a tendon and there is no way that would heal in a matter of days. Even if it was a sprain, anyone who has learned basic first iad knows that the RICE acronym - Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. He didn't have ice and while he may have been able to use some of the material to create an ankle wrap, without ice to reduce the swelling, that ankle was going to hurt him for a while. And as someone said, he wasn't whining. He was being very matter of fact in his assessment of his situation. I thought that wa a pretty gutsy thing to do.

I am rooting for James & Ian...

If something is that posionous why would you mess with it..??.. :earseek:
I'm not in their situation though...brave souls...
I'm surprised they showed them killing the snakes...someone is bound to complain..

Funny how they were saying if they were on a beach somewhere else they'd be running away from the sharks, but not there...

Angie did make a yellow sheet cover up. She was in it when she did her little talk with the camera. She must have taken it off when she did the immunity challenge.

I like the way Jeff told them to use their imagination and use the cloth wisely. I think Angie got the hint.

Thank God they gave them sewing stuff and material....I (like Jeff Probst) was really starting to get sick and tired of seeing all the underwear and bras being used as clothing! :scared: This takes me back to the beginning.....did they think they were going to do a photo shoot? Didn't they learn that the last time Survivor pulled that?? And, why wouldn't you be suspicious of the "photo shoot" and wear a bathing suit under your clothes anyway??...much less wear a thong!! (I know Angie probably thought nobody would see her skimipies, but, still, better be safe than sorry!)

Coby in his skivvies = :scared:

There are just some things we shouldn't be subjected to! :sad2:

Was it just me or did James vote for himself at Tribal Counsel???? The shortened up the screen to roll the credits and Jeff's voiceover was on commenting on him being voted off, so I was a little distracted. But it appeared to me that James wrote his own name down....
