Survivor - Guatemala

Can't wait for the new season to start! Not too interested in them bringing back Bobby John and Stephanie (wouldn't of minded if it were Rupert though ;) but not as a contestant) but this twin thing could get interesting. If they do try and use both twins in the game (switching them back and forth) it would be something that CBS did last year on Big Brother. No one caught on then.

Hey thanks

I would love to play again

but they are all afraid of me

because I would win :)

Awww Rupert, I'd vote for you over and over again.

I can't wait for it to start. I have a meeting that night so I am going to have to have DH tape the show for me.

Did anyone see the Guatemala Preview on the TVGuide Channel? I can't wait. Looks like a good cast.

They didn't say who would be coming back, but they had the Survivors guess who would.

No, I didn't get to see it. Did you see Richard Hatch was indicted?

A big Survivor fan here! I had heard that they were bringing back two former contestants and had guessed that it would be Stephanie and Savage. I guess I get a 50% on that one!

I am glad Steph gets to come back, she was a fab. contestant. She really earned it last season.

Rupert, you should check out the "Lovely Linda's Lounge for the Lush-ious Ladies!", they are too fast for the likes of me, but I bet you'd be perfect, and it seems they are looking for handsome pirates!

Just four more days. And we're going to be out on Thursday evening! I'll be setting up the VCR for sure!!!

Ya' gotta love the Tivo Season Pass! Mine is set! No excuse (planned or not) to miss it in our house!

I can't wait. I wish I didn't have to record it. But this way I will get to keep going back and seeing things I might have missed otherwise.

Woo Hoo! :cool1: We are so excited for Survivor "Guacamole", as my daughter says! :rotfl:

I just hope I don't forget by tonight. :rotfl: I've been in another world lately. Seriously, last night I took the kids for ice cream. There weren't any napkins in the holder, so I asked the lady for another spoon and some napkins. She gave me the spoon and I walked away. My dd said "Mommy, you forgot the napkins." I felt like an idiot going back to get them. She was just standing there holding them, a little confused I'm sure.

Hey, you are in MY world! I live every day like that! It's really bad when I hop in the car, start down the driveway, then forget where I'm going. :teeth:

I am the same way. But I am going to call my cell phone and leave myself a message. Than call DH on his and make sure he remembers. He will need to tape it for me.

Story on TvGuide.com about the new season:

Survivor: Guatemala decided to kick off its new season (premiering tonight at 8 pm/ET) in an unusual way. CBS got such former cast members as Rupert Boneham, Gervase Peterson, "Boston" Rob Mariano and host-with-the-most Jeff Probst to cluster in Times Square under a reproduced Mayan pyramid. There, they greeted fans and put the onlookers' Survivor trivia knowledge to the test in a tribal council setting. This brave reporter even managed to get into a group and, thanks to having watched the show religiously for 10 seasons, won some prizes (a T-shirt, DVD set and hat). But it wasn't all fun and games — in between answering questions, TVGuide.com managed to glean some info about what to expect in this 11th installment.

CBS has been running promos about a big twist, which is that two popular former Survivor players are coming back. Wouldn't that mean that everyone's favorite good-natured pirate was a shoo-in? "No, they didn't say they were bringing back the most popular player," Rupert laughs. "I don't know if it is going to be me or not, but I sure hope it is."

Alas, it seems doubtful, as rumors of the returnees' identities have been spreading rapidly. But "the tribe has spoken" utterer himself insists that just because audiences may know who they are doesn't spoil everything. "[We're having] two surprise people, yeah," Probst acknowledges with a laugh, "But it hasn't been revealed yet in what capacity they will be involved.

"It is not like [Survivor:] All-Stars," he promises. "We still have 16 new people who have never played. The question is, if you introduce in any capacity somebody who has already played, what will the reaction be? Will it be welcoming? Like, 'Hey, you know the game you know how this works?' Or would they be seen as a threat?

Besides all this much-hyped twist stuff, will Season 11 actually be good? "It is definitely the toughest that we've ever put [our players] through," Probst insists. "Up until now, Africa had probably been the hardest. But Guatemala was very hot, very humid, with a lot of bugs and no water for relief. The only water that they had was a lake that was muddy and filled with crocodiles. The challenges were physically exhausting. But that was the idea; we knew that Guatemala was going to be tough. We decided to just embrace it and go for a very tough challenging season."

Is Probst himself starting to wear down from the Survivor grind? "I'm not exhausted," he admits. "We don't have it like they do. We get breaks and food. The exhausting part is trying to keep it fresh. We have to keep reinventing the show. But the stars of the show are the 16 people we put out there and they did not disappoint this year."

Spoke to some pals here in the anthropology dept here at work (where a few of them know Rafe) to get the skinny on the area where they're filming - the dept just got back from scouting dig locations there.

Looks like it's going to be utter hell from the sound of things.hot, humid, huge insects, nasty crocs, horrible water conditions, not much for food, and there's problems with rebels and drugs so it must be a security nightmare for Survivor production.
