Survivor 50 Thread

Originally I was hoping Rizzo would go home but continually seeing Charlie so angry all the time made me happy he was voted off. He is just so, so bitter from losing in his season that he couldn't get a grip for 50. Too bad because he was a good player before the angriness and bitterness set in.
How many people are still holding onto "trauma" from previous seasons? Coach, Ozzy, Charlie, Joe? You wonder how much this impacts their life outside of Survivor.

Also, I didn't realize that Mike, Cirie, Chrissy and Coach were all basically the same age.

I think for a show like this with all repeaters, some many repeats if nothing else they might be bringing the fact that they had all the tools and never won. Rather than use what they learned they are leaning on what failed.

I hope this doesn't come out wrong but I feel like many come on this show that that have the ability to walk away from life, like Ozzy, especially the earlier years when the commitment was much longer. OR they have succeeded in life and looking for that new challenge, vacations can last this long, like Mike. Completely different mindsets. Those not like Mike, they often seem to have something to face or prove and Survivor can make or break that.

Looking back at Ozzy he was young, good looking, strong and won task after task. Now he practically looks lost in life, maybe unhealthy, no longer the young hunk that won everything. 5th season? Really? His interviews and info on his life outside of Survivor are not positive. Survivor is not going to heal him, and the question is did the early Survivor seasons do more harm than good for him.

Charlie has every right to still be mad at someone he fully trusted, who betrayed him and perhaps cost him lots of money. BUT this is a new season, a new chance to prove himself and he squandered it on his constant leaning on the past. He could have easily just worked to stay and help Rizzo to go, quietly.

Coach learned minimal. He's still the same but maybe being among repeat players he is checking himself a tiny bit.

Joe, I will always cheer him on. His heart gets in his way, and I can see where playing again to play different ... but with the same heart and an older body, will hurt.

I think you are probably right in that repeat players bring baggage and some of that was packed on the previous season they played. I'm kinda skeptical of Survivor's vetting process ....

Vetting for reality tv needs to be improved!!! Looking at you ABC. You just cost the company a bundle!!! Hopefully those who vetted were fired.

Yeah, there have been multiple big vetting misses. This one - canceling a season- is costly. I don't want to get off topic. Is there a thread/discussion about the Bachelorette/Bachelor?

I don't know. I don't watch any of those shows. Survivor and Big Brother (has had multiple vet problems last decade) are about it for me. But as a Disney stockholder :magnify: not happy about this last vetting.

I thought Angelina walked off with a much better attitude than others have.

There was a good chunk of years when I couldn't watch Survivor, so 48 and 49 are all I've seen for quite a while. I have questions: Why are their clothes, their hair, their overall appearance so clean? Do they no longer have the bug eating challenges? And why did it take them 50 seasons before discovering they could use a pair of glasses to make fire? (I just assumed it was a rule and forbidden, because I did that as a kid in the 60s and figured everyone knew how to do that.)

Please for the love of everything get Emily out and why does anyone trust her? You can't even use her as a weak player to go to the end, she's told every person every plan that has ever been told to her.

I'm hoping that Cirie takes Rizzo out, good for Kamilla for doubting the story about Kyle.

It's not the first season glasses have been used to make fire, that's happened since the beginning, but there isn't always a player with glasses either (and sometimes the people don't know to do that). But yeah so not the first time.

As far as clothes the producers select the clothes, by that I mean they don't get the ultimate choice, they bring stuff and the producers select what they want.

Bug eating normally happens at auctions and there aren't many of those anymore and went a while without them. Consider that those sorts of things were more common to see on tv long ago (think Fear Factor that was eventually revived), people aren't quite as into that.

They do get incredibly dirty especially after certain challenges but wash off in the water. Since you've seen the last two seasons remember that this is a shortened duration than the old era, longer days the players often were more haggard or their clothes had taken more of a beating.

Not that I don't disagree but for certain shows people have become typecast, it is their identity. Maybe not in their everyday lives unless someone recognizes them but step back into the arena that made them well-known and that's exactly what's going to happen.

Cirie played the same game on The Traitors that she did on her seasons of Survivor, Boston Rob played the same game as he did on Deal or No Deal Island and The Traitors.

While I think there can be some real concerns with respect to mental health of the players the rest is just putting them back into the environment that made them known to us random people.

And for vetting in general the threads in the past on the DIS is great fodder for who NOT to put on the shows, but it makes ratings and is part of the show. It started with a nudist after all :upsidedow

The story was a smart move on Rizzo’s part. He knew she wouldn’t want to turn on an ally of Kyles if there was a chance it was true, so it worked out perfectly for him. If he didn’t tell her that story, I think she would have 100% voted him out. Kamilla had an opportunity to get rid of him, but she blew it.

He’s cocky as heck, but he’s eye rolling entertainment.
At this point, I wouldn’t be mad if he won.
Riz-God, The man, the myth, the legend. :lmao:

That's true but at least she wasn't super gullible about it she even said it didn't make sense because Kyle was hardly in the game, I totally got why he thought it would be better to use that prior relationship between Kamilla and Kyle as a vouch move for working with him.

It's interesting that the players are actually willing to entertain him at the moment since he's a unknown player maybe they think safety in numbers?

I'm not mad that Charlie was out but I was hoping Rizo would get out before the merge, you're right though he's entertainment and with that many players for him to go be Riz-god with we'll probably get some good action as he sticks around.

Rizo comes across as goofy so they don't realize that he is strategic and has a good social game. Like Cirie, he is good at planting a seed and making people think that they came up with the idea to vote someone off. I wonder what Charlie thought when he watched season 49 and realized that Rizo didn't vote against his #1.
