Survivor 34: Game Changers

Nope. I think it was a desperation move. And, not well thought out...as desperation moves sometimes are. When you are fighting for your proverbial life, you aren't thinking clearly. I do not believe it was scripted. You'd have to be an absolute moron to agree to do that....especially as a gay man. And, I don't think Varner is a moron. A bit of a loose cannon, but not a moron.

Can someone please remind me of two things. Isn't Varner gay and how did he know about Zeke?

I thought he cut his own throats as soon as he started talking. But, never thought he'd go THERE. :(

I missed the episode, and have just read some recaps, so I'm a little confused...

I had previously read that Zeke was trans on some internet source a few weeks ago, and I just assumed he was fully out, even with the other contestants on this show. Obviously not! So, here's my confusion. Was he not out at all or just not out to the contestants? Did the internet source I saw get leaked info from when this episode was filmed and fully out him? Or in other words, did Jeff out him just to the participants of the show or ultimately to the world?! Either way, he was an insensitive *** ...

ETA: The "metamorphosis" puzzle is definitely a strange coincidence...

I don't think he was out as transgender (although he certainly was out as gay his first season). This was filmed about a year ago. Guessing that because Zeke knew it was coming, he chose to be more public. The trans people I personally know are not necessarily "secret" about it...i.e., those that knew the person before transition obviously know. But, for a variety of reasons, they don't always tell "new" people that they meet, especially more casual acquaintances.

I have not watched every episode this season, so may have missed it. Did Zeke tell Jeff or did Jeff figure it out somehow?

But you can believe that he would agree to making him one of the most hated people in the LGBTQ community?

He won't be one of the most hated people in the LGBTQ community. First of all, he's gay. Second, supposedly he defends the rights of the LGBTQ community.

He made a mistake, people make mistakes. It was a pretty mean thing to do but people do mean things when their butt is on the line.

I had suspicions that Zeke was TG but when he came out as gay during his last season, I wasn't sure.

Anyone else think all that was scripted? The IC word being 'metamorphosis' and even Zeke used that word. If so, no way would I take that deal, whatever deal they offered... if Varner agreed to that, Wow!

Too early to say. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt but if Zeke goes on to win the game, and this incident is used in his final tribal to get the sympathy vote, I will absolutely believe that the season was rigged in his favor.

On a separate issue, I don't like the way Jeff P handled the voting. Follow the SOP, have everyone write their votes down, and read the votes. I don't care if you're upset.

I also think that there was a lot more to tribal than we saw. It could be the reason that there was no vote. Tribal council is always longer than we see and maybe everyone said he needs to go hence no vote.

IMO, not done vindictively, just a simple "open mouth-insert foot." In the movie "I ROBOT" a quote that far too often rings true....."you are the dumbest smart person I have ever met in my life."

IMO, and apparently that of the contestants, a SOP vote would have been a waste of paper.

Wow. Did not see that move coming from Varner. I thought Tai stepped in it good last week (and dodged a bullet) but that move by Varner last night will go down as the most jaw-dropping, mean spirited, bad decision in Survivor history.

Zeke handled it with dignity and grace.

Hopefully they gave Zeke the option to have that section edited out of the show. It would have been weird and choppy but I'm sure they could have figured out a way.

Gay or not, he won't be popular with what he did.

That is not the first time the vote was conducted in that manner. You also have to remember we are only seeing a few minutes of what sometimes last hours.

That quote is also from Varsity Blues :)
