I got hit up for a survey while clicking around Universal Orlando's website.

Lots of questions asking about Disney like: Before this webpage wee you aware Universal is not part of Walt Disney World? Had two parks? Was not the same as a WDW ticket?

Also, general website experience questions.. but I found all the information they wanted about my relationship to Disney.

There was even a question about why I might not visit Universal and it had "Don't want to leave Disney" and "Too similar to Disney / Why leave?" as options.

I've found they have been asking these types of questions for about a year now. (although a bit more specific each time)

It surprised me, as I can't imagine who thinks Disney = Universal! :confused3:rotfl:

You'd be surprised at how many people do. Lots of people think that Hollywood Studios = Universal Studios

I took that survey too. Plus twice in the Studios we were stopped and asked similar questions.

Universal is really trying to set themselves apart aren't they?

When Marvel was purchased by Disney, some people on the DIS actually thought their Disney tickets would work at Universal and Spiderman would be hooked up to a truck and brought down I-4 to Disney property. All because Disney purchased a company that Universal was associated with. That kind of shows you the mindset of some people.

Some of them went so far as to say that Disney's 5th gate would be called Islands of Adventure, but they had no idea what they would change the name of the 6th gate to be....

:lmao:

Just the other day on the Theme Parks board, a dis'er recounted a conversation with fellow guests at WDW...those people seemed to have thought, until talking with a CM, that it was all the same park. They wanted to go to WWOHP, until they found that out. So Universal lost business.

And a few weeks ago on the Disneyland forum, there was a post by someone whose relative went to Disneyland for a day, disliked it, and came home telling people that Disneyland was really run down and all she did was ride escalators all day. There are almost no escalators at Disneyland (one at the parking structure, and one at the tip-top, I learned, of the seating for the Aladdin show). In this case, Disneyland was being insulted, until the dis'ers husband asked her exactly where she'd been...turns out it was Universal hollywood.

So there really are people out there who don't know the difference, and it's good for both businesses to learn how to better educate people.

I got the same survey. Thought those were odd questions as well. Asked if looking at the site it was specific that they were not part of Disney. Hard to answer the question because it doesn't rly say its affiliated in any way with Disney but it doesn't say otherwise either.

Maybe they are trying to make themselves look like Disney for more business? :confused3 ;) :rotfl:

I filled in a survey that sounds very familiar to this, I think it was around the time that Disney MGM Studios changed it's name to Disney's Hollywood Studios. It was asking me all about the name, whether I had heard of the park, where in the world I thought it was, if I though the name was misleading, did it make me think it was located in Hollywood etc. Of course I kew all about the name change, so I was good to go :thumbsup2

At the end it asked me if I had any additional comments to add, I had just one: What has this got to do with Universal?! :goodvibes

Believe me, these surveys are for a reason. I was checking into a Disney resort two weeks ago and the people next to me were asking about which park Harry Potter is in. I overheard it later that day at the park too.

If we're on these forums, we're already in the elite of people who actually know where they're going before they get there. Believe me, these people do exist.
