Survey for New Jersians

We live in Massachusetts and have been to WDW twice during "Jersey Week." The fact that we have been twice tells you that we did not find it intolerable - but it is definitely more crowded than other weeks in the fall! Three families from my small town go to WDW every year during "Jersey Week" because the kids have a long weekend.

It is a beautiful time of year - great weather!

It never seems like an insane amount of people migrate from our area that week. We too are in Morris County - Randolph.

I'm from Rockaway!! I've been during Jersey Week and had a great time. We went in 2002, and kept running into people from home!! My niece met kids from school and from her soccer team that we did not know were going!

Now that she's in college, we don't go during Jersey week anymore. We're going before Christmas this year after her finals.

I heard that WDW will be making some temporary changes this year in honor of Jersey Week:

All of the background music in the parks will be changed from the usual Disney tunes to Springsteen, Southside Johnny, Bon Jovi and Sinatra (born in Hoboken). The Boardwalk will hire additional CM's, and dress them in black concert t-shirts, long haired wigs, tattoos and body piercings. They are taught to say things like, "Hey baby, wanna party on the beach?" and, "Whachoo lookin' at?" Fake drug deals take place right before your eyes. CM's who operate rides will be encouraged to be extra rude to guests, to give it an authentic Jersey boardwalk feel. Pigeons and extra seagulls will be brought in to all the parks. Guests will be encouraged to ignore the trash cans and just throw their trash on the ground. Pool tags, for which you must pay $5 per person, are required to use any of the pools or go on any ride where water is involved.

I told you guys once and I'll tell you again, stop teasing us Bon jovi fans!!! :rotfl2: :lmao:

BTW I'm officially changing the name of the week to South Dakota week, since we are going that week. After all, what other state drops by a measurable percentage if one family leaves? :goodvibes

(Wyoming doesn't count, you can't tell if people are missing anyway because there's mountains in the way.)

Planning on 2007 Jersey Week. We have been in 1999 and 2004 and found it to be our favorite time. Crowds are manageable; no long lines, eat our way around the world with food and wine - great! We've been during Easter and it was shoulder to shoulder walking down Main Street! YIKES.

You *better* be from Jersey to say that!!! :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Don't forget the breakfast specials offered at Main Street Bakery- a hard roll with butter or Taylor ham, egg and cheese. Extra hair spray will be stocked and the spas will be trained in nail art. The sand on all beaches will be made extra hot and special specs of black sand and millions of jellyfish will be added for "theming". :rotfl2:

Yes, I am Jersey Girl (from Bayonne) and I will be there during Jersey Week November 7-11- at OKW. You won't recognize me though, as I wear mostly fuchsia or turquoise, I only own two concert tees- Backstreet Boys (I know, I know, lol) and James Taylor, have no tattoos or piercings, have a huge bird phobia, LOL, don't smoke or do drugs, I'm slmost always smiling and I always throw away my trash. The Jersey doesn't come out until someone cuts me in line or pushes me or something like that- then you'll be able to tell I'm Jersey for sure!! :lmao:

I've been to WDW during Jersey week once before and truly, it wasn't bad. If you've ever been during summer or a holiday weekend, you know what it's like- crowded, but not overcrowded. And since it's a little cooler, you won't melt. I can't wait to go!

We did Jersey Week 2004- not by design, just accidentally. We are from NC, but had a wedding to go to in FL on Jersey weekend. We thought it was a great time to go! The weather was wonderful, crowds were very manageable (longest wait on a non FP attraction was 30 mins), and everyone we talked to in line, at the parks, or at our resort was from NJ- and very sweet. We had a great time! party:

We are "Jersey Week" regulars and you must have run into us ! ;) I am printing this post and framing it since you don't often see the words NJ and very sweet in the same sentence (unless your talking corn)! :sunny:

I've been Jersey Week three times, and it's great. The temps aren't horrible and the ride wait times are manageable, though we own DVC and tend to go early to the parks, leave to swim in the afternoon, then return in the evenings.

BUT, I just cannot believe that no one added that the casinos on the BW will be shut down!! Are you guys really from Jersey????? :rotfl:

Considering the state of our State since the weekend, who would have thought that would actually happen?!

We've also done Jersey Week and will be back this year as well (11/4-11/11) and staying at VWL. Last year, I thought it was manageable but I did notice it getting busier as the week progressed, especially w/ Veteran's Day on Friday...couldn't move in MK that morning.

All of these Morris County girls...I'm from Flanders!! We're also going down in September since, due to HS construction, Mt. Olive is not opening until September 20 so we get to sneak in an extra trip this year!

Considering I'm always driving around Randolph and Rockaway, maybe I'll see you guys. Just look for the Honda Odyssey with the Sorcerer Mickey antenna topper and the "been there" license plate bracket. That would be me!

Hope to see all my fellow Jerseyans in November.

yes the casinos, tracks, state beaches, and historical sites will all be closed as a tribute to Jersey. Tony Soprano and the boys will be down to turn Cindy's castle into the Florida Bing. Bruce will be blasting from all the speakers in the Magic Kingdom. Taylor ham and cheese on a hard roll for everyone.

I have never heard of Jersey Week until visiting these WDW boards. I also have never gone at this time.

Also, all the left hand turn lanes will be closed and replaced with jug handles and a few circles.

The Boardwalk and Beach Club will change to "down the shore".

Some WaWa's will be placed every mile.

We'll be there from the 5th till the 10th. We usually go every year. The weather is perfect and the crowds aren't that bad.

Our family will be there during Jersey Week. :cool1:
I also know of three other families in our neighborhood who are going. Judging from the responses on this thread, a lot of other NJ families will be going, too.

NJ is a densely populated state (compared to CO), so in this instance, I do think that "one state" can make a significant blip in crowd levels.

I do not expect crowds like at Christmas Week and Spring Break, but the parks will definitely be hoppin'. :Pinkbounc

Fastpass, Fastpass, Fastpass!!!

Count me in--I'll definitely be in WDW for Jersey week! :-) . Super Soaps weekend is around that same time--so that contributes to the crowds. I've been there at this time in other years and have never noticed the crowds to be overwhelming There are a LOT of New Jerseyans though!

not sure which part of NJ you are from... but i kind of feel bad just thinking about it! :rotfl2:
I'll second that one. :confused3 The part of NJ I'm from is beautiful. Of course now we live in TN. But plan on going during Jersey next year.

You forgot to mention that Florida raises their sales tax 1% only during Jersey Week!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Also, the kiosks that are set up in the parks are changed to look like diners!!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Jersey week is our favorite time to go - weather is great and crowds are manageable. We can't make it this year due to DD making her Confirmation during this time -so, we are now going in Aug.

lululovesdisney - I'm also from Bayonne - born and raised - moved to Monmouth County when they closed the base.

During Jersey Week all Krispy Kremes are replaced with Dunkin' Donuts. :)

This year will be my first time down at WDW during Jersey Week. I think it will be pretty cool. I'll be on vacation at Disney, but I'll still feel like I'm at home! :goodvibes

I will try to refrain from singing it's a small world after all. :sunny:

I'm still in Bayonne, I teach at Bayonne High School, actually. I've been here all my life. My parents are looking to move "down the shore" when my mom retires (my dad's already retired) and I'll probably move out of Bayonne, too whenever that happens.

Have you heard all the debate over what to do with MOTBY now? That's the big town issue right now. TV commercials and everything.

Did any of you hear that in past years WDW surveyed guests and found that the greatest number of out of state visitors were from (guess where?) NEW JERSEY!?

I'm excited for Jersey Week, I can't wait to see who I run into, lol!

Oh you all are soooo funny!!! I'm kind of Jersey by default. Parents and Grandparents born and raised in Phila, PA (though dad transferred to Pittsburgh when I was 2 so I started saying YOUNS at that time). Anyway ... grandparents, then parents retired to New Jersey SHORE, where mom still lives today.

I am going to be at WDW during Jersey week so have to try and lose my southern accent (been in VA for 26 years!) and talk Jersey again!!!

PS -- I always called it Taylor Pork Roll ... and is Scrapple only a Phila thing???? Doesn't the name say it all ... but put some ketchup on it and yummy for breakfast!! :teeth:
