I just can't believe that Jersey Week is as big a deal crowd-wise as I've heard.

So... are you from Jersey and planning to go to Disney the week of Nov. 6th 2006? When will you arrive and depart?

It just doesn't seem like a couple days off from school in one state could make such a big difference at such a huge place like Disney.

If you aren't from Jersey but have been to Disney in the last couple of years during Jersey week, how were the crowds?

I am a proud Jerseyan going to WDW during "Jersey Week" 2006! :teeth: I think I will be getting to WDW on Sun Nov 5th, or Mon Nov 6th. I been only once before during Jersey Week, so not the whole state goes, some of us have to stay behind and run things!! :)

I do believe these boards overhype things, but it's all about what you're used to. It seems that many posters here expect November to be deserted and all rides a walk-on, and then get mad when they realize the "Jerseyans" go then, too. Back in 2004 when I was at WDW during "Jersey Week", I thought the crowds were "medium", not quiet but not super crowded. We did everything we wanted. I also think much of this overhype also has alot to do with the fact that New Jersey is a much maligned state, with lots and lots of negative stereotypes (we are all rude smokers who cut in line all the time! ). What is a "cool" state? Colorado? (So many people I know want to move to Colorado, as everyone thinks it's perfect!). I bet if it was "Colorado Week", no one would think twice about going! :teeth:

The other thing I noticed about that particular week is other kids have days off, too!! Veterans Day and Election Day fall that week, and with locals visiting over the long weekend, it all adds up to a busier week! Even so, with normal trip planning (hit big rides early, make sit-down dining in advance) everything was fine! :)

Don't think the crowds are bad. At least we have a week named after us. No other state has.

Our maiden family trip to WDW was the tail end of Jersey Week 2005 (we are not from jersey, not that there is anything wrong with that ;) , arrived Thursday and left Monday. Friday and Saturday were quite crowded, but I think there were alot of locals because of the 3 day weekend. Friday at MK was really loaded (waits for Splash Mountain were up to 100 minutes), we went to MK again on Sunday and it was quite manageable.

We will return for "jersey weekend" this year as well, but travel on Friday and return Tuesday, giving us 2 quiet days (crowd predictions are low for Sunday and Monday so far). This is just a good time of year for us - not hot, not ski season, doesn't interfere with other holiday plans, and we only have to pull the kids out of school for 2 days for a 5 day trip.

I am from NJ- however, i will not be doing Disney in Nov. keep in mind also--- the food and wine festival will still be going on through Nov 12th-- that would also effect the crowd level. ;)

We go every year during "our" week. We go the weekend before and I must say the crowds are managable, but we do notice an increase in numbers from Wednesday on. But it is usually the end of the food and wine festival too, so I think that brings a lot of locals.
No matter what it is wonderful weather and we will be going again this year.

Don't forget that Super Soap weekend is that same weekend also - I know quite a few people that go just for that.

A proud New Jersian and veteran of 3 Jersey weeks - with more to come!

We went this past Nov for Jersey Week and we didn't think it was any more crowded then than any other time we have been. You'll always find it busier on the weekends no matter what. But over all it worked well for us and we would consider doing it again!! We had a blast.:thumbsup2

I am a proud Jersey Week Girl!!

Since 2001 it has been a ritual. This past Nov 2005, due to some family issues I could not go. I was so depressed the entire week. I think its great and it is true no other state has a week like that in DisneyWorld. I think its pretty darn cool if you ask me.

The crowds are heavier during the weekend and Super Soap and the Food and Wine Festival bring alot more people as well.

Go on down and don't worry, if you need to there is always Fast Pass or the EMH mornings/evenings for you to take advantage of.

Coronado Springs here we come (again!) April 2006 :tigger: :maleficen :goofy:

Yes, our family will be going the first week of May, so that we can stay here during the NJEA convention in Nov. and hold down the fort! ;)

It never seems like an insane amount of people migrate from our area that week. We too are in Morris County - Randolph. I have one in pre-school, one in elementary and one in middle school, so usually a few families that we know will head to Florida that week. It almost seems like more head out at either Thanksgiving or Spring Break.

But let's be honest, anytime is right to go to Disney! :goodvibes

And it's always a great time to live in beautiful Morris County New Jersey! :thumbsup2 -

We'll arrive on Nov. 3, depart on Nov. 10 or 11. I can't take the heat in the summer, and I've heard that the Spring Break/Easter period is so crowded that you're better off staying home, so it's Jersey Week for us. It seems so far away.

I too am a proud Jersey Week person!!

We went in 2003 and 2005, hope to make 2006 and am definitely making it down in 2007.

As others have stated, yes, Food and Wine Festival and Super Soap Weekends are the same time - but, I dont think that any time that we have been that it was actually crowded! I dont think that any lines were more than a 10 minute wait! Even when we went to MGM for Super Soap Weekend, it was more crowded than I thought it would be but everyone was at the Soap Stars tables, the lines on the attractions were not bad at all!

Also, our schools for the last few years have been giving our kids the whole week off because of Election Day and Veterans Day.

I CANT WAIT TO GO AGAIN!

We did Jersey Week 2004- not by design, just accidentally. We are from NC, but had a wedding to go to in FL on Jersey weekend. We thought it was a great time to go! The weather was wonderful, crowds were very manageable (longest wait on a non FP attraction was 30 mins), and everyone we talked to in line, at the parks, or at our resort was from NJ- and very sweet. We had a great time! party:

Our family has been twice during Jersey Week. Last year and I think 2003. The crowds were not that bad in our experience. Remember as posted above its not just Jersey Week but often Veterans Day and Election Day hit during that time. We have been luck so far with the weather. It seems to be just right.. not too hot and not too cool.

I heard that WDW will be making some temporary changes this year in honor of Jersey Week:

All of the background music in the parks will be changed from the usual Disney tunes to Springsteen, Southside Johnny, Bon Jovi and Sinatra (born in Hoboken). The Boardwalk will hire additional CM's, and dress them in black concert t-shirts, long haired wigs, tattoos and body piercings. They are taught to say things like, "Hey baby, wanna party on the beach?" and, "Whachoo lookin' at?" Fake drug deals take place right before your eyes. CM's who operate rides will be encouraged to be extra rude to guests, to give it an authentic Jersey boardwalk feel. Pigeons and extra seagulls will be brought in to all the parks. Guests will be encouraged to ignore the trash cans and just throw their trash on the ground. Pool tags, for which you must pay $5 per person, are required to use any of the pools or go on any ride where water is involved.

Oh I think you forgot one. During Jersey week you will also be charged a luxury tax and an additional property tax on your resort location.
