Ok, the day had come. I had started packing the nite before for me and DH. I also had to finish packing for our DS 3 and DD 8, who would be going to their grandparents house. My DH, who was supposed to have the day off, didnt, he was working from home. I spent the day wondering if we would get to leave the house on time. We had a 7:05 PM flight out of Atlantic City, so we had about 1 hour ½ drive ahead of us, and that was without traffic. I finished packing for all of us, got some magazines to read, and packed our Brita bottles (great idea guys, thanks so much for posting about them).
Finally, it was 3:00, and FIL showed up to watch our 3 year old, and wait for DD to get home from camp. MIL was to be there soon too. It was hard to leave, DS is very attached to me, but he was ok, gave us hugs and kisses good bye. In the car by 3:30, and hitting tons of traffic on the way down. DH was freaking out thinking; we are going to miss the plane. I told him to chill out, we werent going to miss anything. After a long drive we finally get there and have enough time to still get some exit row seats that recline, so DH can stretch his long legs. As we are sitting, we start to discuss where we will grab a late dinner when we land. I had tried finding out what time
Beaches and Cream closed but had had no luck on the boards. So I said to my DH, we can go to Downtown Disney and go to Earl of Sandwich and grab some dessert at Ghirardellis. He said no, he really wants B & C. I say ok, I get on my cell phone and call Disney Dining. I accidentally hit the wrong number, and was connected to Victoria and Alberts reservations. I very nicely apologized to the CM that answered and told him that I hit the wrong number. He said that is ok, maybe he could help me anyway. I told him that I was trying to find out the closing time at B&C, since my DH were getting ready to board a plane for WDW. He laughed and said to me hold on; I will call them for you and find out. I was like, great, thank you so much. I was on hold for a bit, which wasnt a problem. When he came back on the line he told me that they close at 11:00 PM. I thanked him profusely, and went to tell DH. I told him, if we land on time, we should be able to make it there.
The flight was uneventful, we were late leaving, but we still got to MCO before 10:00. We got our carryon baggage as quickly as possible and headed to Dollar rental car.
We got down there and got on the Fastlane line. There were two reps behind the desk working with other customers. Another family got on the regular line, and one of the reps was about to call them over, when the rep closer to us reminded him that there were people on the Fastlane line. I have him our paperwork, added my DH to the car, and gave him the upgrade coupon I got in my Fastlane signup papers. He then told us that we can upgrade for $15.00 a day to a luxury car, convertible, mini van and I think SUV. I looked at my DH and said what kind of convertible. He said a Sebring, and rattled off colors. Well we wound up renting a red Sebring convertible. DH just laughed at me. It is something I wanted to do for a long time. We get to the car, check it out, put the top down and are off to Beaches and Cream. You cant feel the Florida humidity with a convertible doing 65 MPH!! Good think I borrowed some scrunchies from my 8 year old DD.
We got to the Beach Club, parked and got to B & C at around 10:45 PM. We decided not to wait for a table and ate at the counter. For a review of the food you can go here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?threadid=623482
We finished dinner, headed back to the car, put the top down and headed to Pop Century. As soon as we got there, we parked, went inside and I got on line (long line and lots of CMs behind the counter too for such a late time, we were surprised). DH went to take a break and explore. While we were checking in I requested if we could possibly get a room with a king sized bed. Luckily they had one in the 50s decade. We also were able to purchase our e-tickets for the next evening. We got our maps, room cards, and e-tickets and went to look at the shadow boxes of history on the walls. Wow, talk about a walk down memory lane. Someone had fun bidding for these items on Ebay (and yes, according to our tour guide the next day, most of the contents of the shadow boxes were purchased on Ebay). We went back to our car, got a not great parking spot, and found our building. We were right next to the giant bowling pin swimming pool, thankfully our room faced away from the pool. We checked out the room, enjoyed the shower, and went to bed. We had an early wake up call for 7:00. We had a tour to get to at 8:45 the next morning, and we wanted to check in at the Poly.
Pinch me, I am in WDW!!!!
