How do you go about surpriseing your kids about an upcoming trip to Disney World? I have pondering what the best way is to do this. I have heard about the birthday make-a-wish option but his b-day is nowhere near when our trip is. He is 5 by the way. Ideas would be awesome!

My kids are 6 and 5(both Girls). They do not know we are going to Disney. They Know we are going away, I could never get away with getting them on the plane without telling them something. We have told them we are going to visit some friends.:)

That sounds so cool! When are you going? I think it would be so hard for me to keep my mouth shut about our trip! I just get so excited!

We surprised our 2DD's last year :) , we told them all throughout the year that Mummy & Daddy would take them away but we just hadn't booked anywhere yet :rotfl:, we sorted everything without them finding anything out, even the taxi driver was in on the secret ;) , and only when we approached Manchester Airport in the UK did my eldest DD start to wonder what we were doing at the Airport :confused3 , Totally magical pixiedust: . This year they know we're going otherwise they'll never trust us again :lmao:

We surprised our two girls one year with a trip. They were 5 and 9 maybe? Anyway, they didn't have near as much fun as when we 'planned' a trip. All kids are different, but mine like the anticipation almost as much as the trip itself. Well... almost almost ;) . I've heard plenty of others say they had the best time ever by surprising their kids with a trip. You know your kids. Like I said, all kids are different.

Last year I used the Disney Art Studio on our computer to print up a sign that said: Today We Blast Off to Disney World! And it had Micky in a space suit. I hauled out the camcorder and woke my 7 yr old DD up first thing in the morning and had her read the sign. She was a little groggy and her took her a minute to figure it out but she was surprised. Then we hopped in the car and headed to the airport.

My kids are 12 and 11. I plan to wake them up on the morning of our trip and just ask "WHO WANTS TO GO TO DISNEYWORLD TODAY?" They will be out of their minds!
I have thought of a dozen different ways to spring the surpise on them, but I think this simple approach is going to give me the most shock and awe!

Surprise sounds like a good idea right now. Made the mistake of teling my DS4 when we booked in Feb and every day he asks me when we r going!!! Its getting old now!!

I will never forget the time when I was in 6th grade and my brother was in 7th grade and my parents told us that we were going for a long weekend trip to the Baltimore harbor/aquarium. My brother and I were like that's cool, you know. Well anyway, we are drving in the car and my mom and dad start asking us questions about places we would like to go and all this stuff so my dad starts aksing us if we really want to go to Baltimore. And at first we are like yes, and then he says come on, if you could go anywhere right now, where would you go? So my brother and I both say Disney World! so my dad says ok. So he takes us to the airport, now the whole time my brother doesn't believe my dad and thinks he is just pulling his leg and I don't know what to think. So we get to the airport parking lot and my brother keeps telling my parents, come on this isn't funny, and my dad is just laughing and my mom gets out of the car and pulls 2 suitcases out of the trunk. At this point I knew we were going to Disney and I almost fainted. My brother didn't believe until we got into the airport and my Mom pulled out the airline tickets. It was the best suprise ever and we still laugh and talk about it to this day!

For our last trimp our children just thought we were going away. So when they got off the bus, we have 5, we lined them up and I said you know how Daddy likes the camcorder and then said where are we going? One of them hollared "Myrtle Beach!" At the same time I whispered in the oldests ear, 12 at the time, No we're going to Disney! Well needless to say he just looked at me like I was nuts and then told the others and no one believed us. I had to get out all of the paperwork and read it to them. That was there first trip and it was alot of fun. Last night my MIL surprised them by asking them where they would like to go for the next "Holiday Meal" She told them we would go out this time and gave them 3 choices. All 3 being at Disney. They didn't believe us and thought she was chumping them. Needless to say this morning they are making their plans for November already. My one boy said he wished we wouldn't have told them until we were getting in the car like last time. Who knows which is right. Sometimes part of the trip is the anticipation of going.
