Can you help? I've got a short amount of time and very little ideas on how to "surprise" the Kids. I've written this small poem for my oldest daughter who is 6 to read to her sister who is 4. My parents are surprising the girls with a vacation to Disney World in Jan/Feb..but we're telling them on Christmas Eve!

This is the First official trip for my 4 yr old. My oldest has been many times (thanks to Nana & Papa lol). They know that they're getting the "world" for Christmas but no clue what it means.

Nana has purchased them some official Disney dresses to open for their vacation. I know they'll be so excited, but I'm trying to figure out a fun way to tell them besides the "note". I'm not sure it will "click".

This is what I wrote, its a work in progress LOL. Thanks for reading!

Miranda & Abygayle,

Nana and Papa have planned for this day
It's such a great gift in a magical way.
The world you hold is big its true,
its filled with magic and princesses too.
The world they give is big and fun, so much to do, a lot in the sun.
You're BOTH going to have a ball in a Kingdom you know!
So put on your dresses and wish upon a star
You're BOTH going to......
**DISNEY WORLD!!**

Merry Christmas, and thanks for reading!

I am planning on surprising our children for Christmas as well. I've made up a poem to tell them and will write it in a card or print it on some Christmas stationary. The things I've purchased will go in a big box and the card will be on top so if they don't get what the poem means then there will be the items inside the box that should definitely let them in on the surprise. I have Mickey Santa ears, maps, t-shirts and new autograph books! Actually Santa is surprising them on Christmas morning and we're going with all 16 members of our family. Each family is using this poem and customizing it with all the nieces and nephews names to accommodate their children.

A magical place is where you'll go
to laugh and play with loved ones you know
JT, Chap, and Little J too
AB, MK, and R, that's who!
I've arranged for you all to go see an ole' mouse
He's a pretty good fella with a neat little house!
It's a long way to travel but I knew you wouldn't mind
as long as you're together and having a grand time!
So hurry and pack all the things that you'll need
For 5 days of magic and good times indeed!

We're surprising our three boys on Christmas morning with a March trip, and I found some really great posts on this board with wonderful ideas - it was so hard to choose, and I've changed my plan many times! We're doing several wrapped boxes, each with a different phrase from the planning video (which our three boys watch all the time, so they should get the idea) and ending with a big Disney box that will include gift cards, pens, new guidebook, binder with all of our resort info, general plans, ADRs, etc and a recordable photo card with pictures of them during their most recent trip earlier this year (and I recorded "It's the time of your life" from the video on the card.)

But the part that I thought might help OP (if you have the time) is the idea I got from this board about a countdown chain - a paper chain that you make to count down the days to Disney. I added a game element to it for our older boys. Each paper chain link is printed with the date, the number of days left to Disney, and a picture (used google to find images) of something at Disney - rides, parks, etc. Then I created a "Countdown Chain Challenge" sheet for the older boys with the list of dates - they try to figure out what each picture is and write it down (I'll provide significant help!) and when they get each one right (I'll make sure they do!) they get a disney sticker. When they fill up the challenge sheet, they get a prize at Disney (not sure what that will be yet.)

Now I just have to figure out if there is enough room in that box for a helium balloon to pop out when they open it - another idea I loved from this board!

Love your poem! Have fun!

I'm surprising my kids (3 and 6) on Christmas with a trip the next day on the 26th.

Here's what I have planned:

The last present they open will be a box. In the box will be a note that explains that they will have to find 5 words that spell a message which will tell them what their last present will be. It will then give a clue to where the first word is located. Each word will have a number above it so that they can put the message in order. I was careful to write everything with small words so that my DD6 can read them. The message will read "We're going to Disney World tomorrow" (Disney World will together as the last word they find).

With each word will be a clue to the next one. The 5th and last word (Disney World) will be in a box with pins for trading, EPCOT WS passports that we bought for them in anticipation during our last trip, new water bottles, a $25 Disney Gift card for each of them, and their Mickey Ears.

Here are the clues we are using:

In order to get your last gift
which is something really neat,
look for clues in the house, the first is under Mommy’s seat.

With each clue is a word-
there are five, not eight.
The message that is made,
will tell you something great.

Nice job! You’ve found your first clue.
To get your next one, this is what to do:

Walk to the front door,
and look under the rug on the floor.

Now, you’ve got another word!
It’s time to look for a third.

You must follow a path
to the place you take a bath.

You’re doing great. Wow!
Just two more to go now.

In the cabinet, next to the Wii
Is where your next clue will be.

You are almost done!
The next word is the big one!

Go down the stairs and next to the bed.
The present is in the box covered in red.
