We are going dec 7 staying for a week and we are flying. This is a huge early Christmas present for my almost 9 year old son. Trying to decide whether to wait until trip time to tell him or tell him a little early so hr can be part of final planning. Also looking for neat ways to tell him. I bought him a kids guide book and we have our magic bands. He has no idea!!!

Is he a star wars fan? Then maybe he needs a new lightsaber - what for??? J
Why did Yodi or Luke himself send him this box? Maybe there is some additional info in the box or an official Republic invitation for training & Magic?

Jedi training at Hollywood studios...

Go early to HS - be there at rope drop to be able to enroll in training. Ask a CM where to go, the last time we were there, sign ups were by the radio antenna building not at the event. They fill up fast..

We tied disney tickets to disney balloons and wrapped them in a giant box. It was a pretty magical surprise!

My DS9 and I were discussing this very thing the other night. He is about to go on his 10th trip to WDW, 3 of which have been surprises (2 day of, 1 day before). He told me he loved the surprise trips, but he actually like planning and anticipating the trip even more!!

We surprised our nieces and nephews with matching shirts that said "We're going" with pic of castle and characters.

My family of 11 is also going December 7th! We have three little girls that have no clue we are even going and have never even been before that are 3, 6, and 9! We are not going to tell them anything! We are flying down and telling them, if they ask, that we are going to Florida. We are thinking they will realize that we are going to Disney when we get on the Magical Express. If not, def when we roll onto the property! So excited and hoping we are able to catch their faces when they realize where we are going! Have a great time!

I highly highly recommend giving him a little time to adjust. We had a surprise trip planned but spilled the beans because we have big mouths:rotfl:. Anyway.. the kids (9 and 16) have both said several times they are glad we told them so they have something to look forward to and can be part of the planning. I still think it's a great idea to surprise him, but a few days beforehand so he can tell his teachers and friends and pack his things and get really excited!:)

We are going in february. My mom has been trying to take a few grandkids at a time. This time she is taking me and dd17(she had to know ahead for sports) and my ds6 he doesn't know and won't until christmas. Mom ordered a bunch of disney items and is going to save it for his last gift. We have tried to surprise him 3 times and he always figures it out. Lol. So the fact that he still doesn't know is a miracle! The trip is now "Code Name Tomato Soup" so my daughter and I can talk about it. Lol

I am trying to figure out the same thing...lots of good ideas, but what i REALLY want to add to it is a phone call from a character on Christmas morning with the surprise of going to Disney World, but I can't find anything! Everything I come across is no longer available :confused3' not even Enchanted Calls (unless its a different website now)
Can anyone help???!!!
Thanks!!!

we are surprising our DS8 on Christmas Day with a trip to WDW Easter 2014. he has no idea - we are making a box up with a countdown chain, a plush Mickey Mouse and a letter from Mickey seeing see you in April. We are also putting loads of Disney candy in it and a replica plane ticket.
Cannot wait to see his face on Christmas Morning - it will be fantastic to be able to talk about it and plan with him - this will be his second trip to WDW - cannot wait.

I really wanted to wait until the day we are leaving but he's never flown and we think he might need time to adjust to it?

Thats really for you decide depending on his personality. I went once with my niece. We told her the day we left. Gave her a t shirt that said something like we r going and a pic of castle on it. She was excited and ok.

Howver this time I am taking nephew and other neices. We told them already. They are really having a great time helping to plan where to eat and what to do. I made them a countdown chain and they are drving down so the day before they leave I am giving them a road trip bag with lots of activities to do in car. I think they are going to be more comfortable knowing what to expect.

It really depends on the kid.
