Ok so I don't have much money and am saving every penny so my mom and I can go to Disney in September for free dining. It's booked, our ADR's are set and we're ready to go!

Only thing is that I've been going to WDW with my mom since I was little- I've been 15 times and only 3 were not mother/daughter trips (I'm now almost 24). I want to do something special for her as a surprise at the World that doesn't cost that much money.

I was thinking the Behind the Seeds tour as a possibility (only $12 each!) but am trying to think of other ideas.

Something that doesn't cost a ton but that will surprise her! She loves Mickey too- he's her favorite

There's no special occasion- I guess it's our first trip where we're splitting the costs and I have been "on my own" and out of school- I want to do something to show my appreciation for her! We live 500 miles apart and I'm missing Thanksgiving at home for the first time this year because of my new job- this will be my only time to see her between now and Christmas!

Anyone have any ideas?? :mickeyjum

Consider going on a hayride ride in Ft Wilderness. I believe it's only $8.00 first come first serve basis. They are nightly at several different times depending on the season. Check out www.mousesavers.com

Mary's website has a great topic about fun/cheap things to do in WDW! Great ideas!
Enjoy your trip!

Such a good daughter! I'm a mom (and grandma) and I can tell you that I would LOVE it if my daughter would take me to afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian. If you haven't been, it would be a nice, new, relaxing, "girly" thing to do and you can order a la carte to fit your budget--it's all delicious. Have fun together whatever you decide!

How about the GF Afternoon Tea?

I am not sure if this is on the dining plan or not though? We have APs so we don't do the dining plan.

Check out allearsnet.com for the menus. You could even have a special dessert delivered here such as the Slipper if your mom is into that type of thing. I think it's less than $15 for that.

I wanted to do this for my DM on Mother's Day but they are totally booked :guilty:

Oh that is so funny that we posted the same thing at the sametime :lmao:

We did really enjoy the behind the seeds tour, and you get to see the Mickey vegetables, pumpkins, and cukes up close.....

How about a small cake delivered at one of your meals that says "thanks Mom" on it. Or a pick a pearl in Epcot for a keepsake and because she's a "keeper" OR A "gem"

As a Mom even a card with a hand written message about how much these trips and her mean to you would be fabulous. You could slip it to the hostess to have it at her place when you were seated at the nicest or most special meal you have. I really like this option the best because I know I would keep it forever!

Thanks so much for the ideas guys!! I'm still keeping the Behind the Seeds tour in mind since we've always been jealous of those people walking around while we were riding the Land. :teeth:

Haven't thought about the GF afternoon tea! I'll have to look into that too- and I do like the idea of surprising her with a special dessert and/or card at one of our dinners as well.

Thanks for the ideas! If anyone else has any others, please post! :goodvibes

Hey Karen,
I think its really cool that you and your mom are going to WDW together. I actually want to take my mom there for her birthday as she has never ever been to Disney before so I am hoping by the end of the year or begininng of next I can take her. I know what you mean about pricing as well and saving up. My advise to you for giving your mom something special just has to do w/ taking a great picture and maybe putting it in a personalized frame. If she loves Mickey try and get a picture of the two of you w/ Mickey in his tent. They are some great picture frames and its something that the two of you can always look back on.
Have a great trip and I hope everything is wonderful for the two of you! :)
