so we are taking a trip with our 5 kids from Christmas to New Years. We are aware of the crowds and will just enjoy as we can. We aren’t telling them
Ahead of time. Our plan is to drive through the night Christmas Eve and be there the 25.

Trying to figure the grand surprise. Should we tell before we get in car or wait until
We arrive or in the morning before we get there??

I am getting Christmas shirts and Mickey ears made and plan to have Jingle our Elf surprise them with a letter from santa!

I would tell them before/when you get in the car. You're going to have to tell them you are going somewhere and in my experience lying to them about where you are going does not work out well.

We did a surprise trip in October. I hate surprises, but did it for DH. The kids knew we were going on a trip and at first thought we were going to see DH's alma mater Emory. They don't know where Emory is. They're barely literate...lol! They figured it out when we got the older one to read the signs when we got to Orlando. It was pretty cute. We had worked with conceirge to put Mickey and Minnie's and in their half of the suite and a card with an invite to Mickey's Scary Party. The kids did love it, but no way am I doing another surprise trip.

Thanks all! I think we will
Have car packed and tell them. We can’t pick
Up my Dh’s kids until the night of dec 24 so we were going to load them up and tell them then and make the drive through the night.

Make sure you can find gas stations open on Christmas Eve.

It depends, we told the kids they were missing school and getting up super early because we needed to drive 3 hours to great aunt Gladys’ nursing home (who didn’t exist) for her birthday luncheon at the home. They were not disappointed.
