She won't get an email but it will appear in her MDE. She would have to go looking for it, though. If she doesn't regularly look at MDE when there's no trip planned, you'll be okay up until a certain point--I don't know exactly when that is--but before the trip she may start getting push notices if she allows them on her MDE app.Hi!
I am planning on surprising my adult daughter with a surprise trip to WDW for her Birthday. I need to put her name into the booking but it will then appear in her MDE and she will get an email won’t she?
Any work arounds this please?

AFAIK, there's no way to prevent this. And a trip to WDW is wonderful even without the surprise part.
Do you have iPhone? I have an Android phone and on MDE the front page is full of ads for LLs, etc. I have to click on Future Plans in order to see my upcoming trip in May.I don't believe she'd need to go looking for it. As soon as I open MDE, the 4th 'block' on my home page is my upcoming trip dates and resort. It would be pretty easy for her to see I believe.

Thanks everyone for your input. I read the terms and conditions and it says they will charge an amendment fee to add her name later. I’ll call Disney and see if they can suggest anything to avoid this fee, otherwise will just suck it up I guess!
That's so interesting--that the iPhone and Android app are that different. On the Android app you would have to deliberately look at Future Plans in order to see an upcoming trip that you yourself hadn't reserved. I don't look at that unless I do have an upcoming trip although I do sometimes look at wait times, etc., even when I'm not there.I have an iPhone and the first page of MDE does show your "upcoming plans." At least one of them will show there (an upcoming park reservation, dining, etc).
But I would say that just opening the app at all would mean she would likely find it. It's not that hard to come across unless she just doesn't ever look at the app at all. And I guess most people don't unless they have a trip planned. I'm one of the weirdos who checks ride times from 500 miles away with no trip in the future lol
Yes, it seems very different! This is the top of my home page on my iPhone where I’ve hidden the dates of my trip that are clearly visible as soon as I open my app:That's so interesting--that the iPhone and Android app are that different. But you won't be able to book LLs in advance if she doesn't have a ticket. Just wanted to add this in case you weren't aware. In my experience they usually waive the fee if you're making things more expensive. So if you're adding her to a package last minute, they'll just charge you the cost of the tickets.
That is so interesting. But is this because you booked the trip? My sister booked our upcoming trip, so I wasn't the lead on the reservation. I had to click on Future Plans in order to see the reservation. I am aware, however, that the iPhone and Android apps do have differences.Yes, it seems very different!
