This is my family's first trip to Disney World (I've been once before). I am looking for something special for our family to do or get. Any suggestions? And nothing extremely expensive either.

Thanks! :mickeybar :mickeybar

Im going in may and one of my college friends is coming with me..shes never been there so i was thinking of a few things were going to do---the second morning we are there im going to surprise her with the character breakfast in AK with Donald..she loves Donald!!
and now i just planned an illuminations cruise, with another DISer !!!

Be sure to order the FREE Disney planning DVD. Also you might enjoy the Magic Kingdom Game that is available at Toys R Us. We got it for Christmas and have enjoyed playing it. You should also get a guidebook with lots of nice pics. of the world. I think our favorite is Birnbaum's. They even have one that is for kids.

Hmm... an Illuminations cruise would be good. Thanks for the suggestion! :sunny:

An inexpensive souviner would be to all get Mickey or Minnies ears on Main Street in MK and have your names out on them. I think they are $8 each and personalization is free!

You could check the Disney Floral service to make a basket to have in your room with autographbooks and goodies.

Inexpensive ideas to give before you go...if you have kids, you could make up goodie bags that have a Disney theme, such as fruit snacks, activity/coloring books, and juice boxes. Anything to make the trip more fun!

I am also going with one of my best friends, and my younger sister. We have been there before but our friend hasn't. We are surprising her with a dinner at Chef Mickey's over at the CR. It is a blast! Good food, good character interaction, and FUN! We are all college students and we enjoy it there! So I'm sure your family for the first time would have a blast!!!!

when we were there last year i made up "pillow gifts" for my kids (and sometimes dh and i! LOL) for every morning when they woke up... the gifts were inexpensive and easy to carry...

:flower: we all received disney tee shirts that i bought at disneydirect.com
:sunny: kids got princess and pooh cameras bought at target
:earsboy: small stuffed mickey/minnie keychains bought at disney store (on sale)
:) little lilo and stitch tins w/candies in them
:earsgirl: some pins that i bought on ebay
:umbrella: underwater camera for the day we were going to water park (bought at target)
:Pinkbounc water yoyos from dollar store
:earboy2: and on their last day dd got a disney cd and ds got a disney gameboy game, for the plane ride home!
:confused3 there were a few other small gifts that i just cannot remember off the top of my head...

the "mystery" of how the gifts were delivered was awesome... i also found it elminated some of the "gimme get me buy me i wants" 'cause if they asked for something in the park, i would remind them what if that's what mickey was going to bring you tonight ;) plus, i wrapped each gift in a colored paper lunch bag and made labels on the computer w/a note and signing each gift from a specific character (i.e. water yoyos from tigger 'cause they both bounce; camera from character on the package; underwater camera from nemo; etc)

it was great fun, low budget and well worth the time/energy it took to plan and carry out! :)

We did that too! :teeth:  Each morning, I would leave their gift in front of our hotel door (on the inside) and they thought that Mickey left the gifts for them. To this day, they still think that Mickey left the gifts for them. :earboy2:

For my parents, I've ordered gift baskets that were in our rooms upon arrival. We've also done the WISHES cruise and that was great.

Good luck and have fun surprising everyone! :wizard:

I was thinking about doing this for my little cousins and brother on our cruise (not DCL). They will be 2, 5, 9, 10, and 12. Any ideas on what I can do for them (they don't all have to be the same)? I might get something little for my grandparents too. Any ideas for them?
