Surprised by DVC car rental rates!

It's a slow day at work today so thought I'd check some car rental rates for our May 2003 trip. I've always found the best discount by using our Emerald Aisle discount along with our Disney Club discount. That rate came in at $373 for 10 days. So decided to call member services and the rate they quoted thru Alamo/National was about $50 cheaper. This is the first time I've ever had a rate quoted cheapter thru MS.

Anyone else found this to be true?

Well i guess anything is possible. My suggestion is to wait. If you are leaving in May then you should wait until about 2 months before your arrival. I last visited back in October and was able to get a car much cheaper closer to my arrival than doing it way ahead of time. It kind of follows the way the airlines operate. They usually have better short term promos. I think one of the good promos that National is running right now expires the end of March. After that they should have a whole new list of specials. If you feel the need to reserve that rate make sure that it can be cancelled without penalty. Keep checking back to the websites often and if the rate doesn't get any better, you still have that original one locked in. You can always reserve the better rate and then cancel the old one. I have done this for quite a few years now and it still works for me.
