Surprise Wait List Success

Well we got a surprise yesterday. We had decided to take another vacation this summer and since we had been to WDW (BCV and BWV) for 10 nights in June we didn't think about going back at first. Since our APs are good until September, we decided to see what it would cost to go back vs other options. We had some points left from this year and had just purchased more so we had plenty to borrow from next year to cover the stay. We found a good airfare for dates we found acceptable. Then we called a couple of weeks ago and waitlisted for BCV and BWV. Early last week we made a reservation at ASMo (with AP discount) expecting that's where we'd wind up staying. We called last Monday and added OKW as a waitlist option. We really didn't want to split our stay at more than one resort and didn't really want to do day-to-day point commitments. The surpise hit my wife when she got home yesterday. When she walked in the door from work the CM from DVC reservations was in the process of leaving a message about availability. My wife got to the phone in time and it turned out that ALL 8 NIGHTS we wanted were avaialble at OKW. We weren't surprised that there was some avaialbility but to get the whole stay in one shot really shocked us! The nice part is we've never stayed at OKW.

We were really excited about going back again so soon (my daughter is talking about it constnatly) and we're more excited because it's at DVC on points. This is turning out to be a very inexpensive vaction.

We have found time and again that the waitlist clears at around 30-35 days out as people cancel so as not to lose their points. Good going! We'll probably be down there about the same time! Bring your ponchos!

Thanks. The rain doesn't stop us - there's usually someplace to pop in and have a cold one of some kind. If you're there beteen 8/14-8/22 I may run into you at the Rose&Crown without knowing it. I get in there as much as I can to have a Guiness. Last year in September, the Big River had a wonderful stout - one of the best microbrews I've ever tasted.
