surprise trips??

has anyone booked a surprise trip for their family. i was getting the new elmo toy for my dd for christmas and her godmother got it and every time i pick something my mom gets it and yes there is a huge leap from elmo to disneyland but i was thinking that maybe i should book a surprise trip and like put it in a card or something for under the tree and my mom would think it was a voucher or something?? we were in the travel agents today (paying for my moms cruise) and ash saw a pic of mickey and she started jumping up and down saying yey mickey again mickey again. im such a sucker lol

this trip would be mine ash's and my moms christmas present btw

what do you think and also if it was a christmas present when should i book for?

You should definitely do it! I've booked for 11th-14th Jan and my children (8, 4, 1) know nothing about it. I am going to surprise them on Christmas Day, after dinner. I have decided that I'm going to create a 'personal invitation' from Mickey on the computer and put them in golden envelopes. I'm going to draw a chart featuring Sleeping Beauty's castle and get Disney stickers so that they can see how many sleeps until we go. I am almost as excited about telling them as I am about going! I didn't want to leave it under the tree as it might lose its impact amongst all the presents.

But saying that I've actually done it. I booked for my Mum, Dad, Brother, Wife, Son and Myself to go for a weekend in December as Christmas presents to everyone

I booked for December as I wanted it to be a Christmas present and wanted to have the Christmas experience at DLRP. Also in January (the other time I was looking at) POTC is closed nearly the entire month so I'm obviously not going to go then!!

I have booked a surprise trip for my wifes 30th Birthday, we go on Monday but her actual birthday isnt until November, but as i am a teacher we have to go during half term!

She doesnt have a clue and dont plan on telling her until we get to St Pancras!

I'm going in December and my 2 boys dont know yet, I am going to make an extra special Advent calender for the 1st December, and it will be a Countdown to Disneyland with a dsney character behind each window

Thats how they will find out once I give it to them

i have booked for myself and daughter for December. I am not going to tell her until the morning we are going. In fact I might not tell her until she sees the VEA bus & realises it herself.

I will just tell her we are going away for a few days to the sun and that because of the time of year we have to fly through Paris to get there as there are no flights from here. She will believe me too!!! She'd remember the airport from last year and associates Disney with Paris, so if I didn't tell her we were using Paris to connect to somewhere else she would guess the minute we check-in at the airport at home.

Can't wait to see the look on her face.

go for it because the excitment about the hoiliday is good but thinking of the kids faces when they are told pricless .
We are going on the 17th november but going up to london the night before the kids think that we are going around london the next day so in the morning we are going to wait untill we get to st pancras and say you can go this way sight seeing and go home tonight or you can go this way for a big supprise lol i cant wait ,They keep seeing the advert saying wish we could go back to disney lol little do they know

I've told Kacee about his trip in December but at 18 months old I think he is a little young to understand anyway and he will still be surprised when we get there.

He was as surprised every day we went on the last drip as he was on the first day!

we all feel the magic there dont we and we all feel like kids ,well i do anyway if not im worse than the kids but its so magical to see you kids faces no matter what there ages.

i hope he enjoys his holiday and get a supprise everyday bless him

awww that is so sweet. ash is only 22 months but she is still asking about disney and she knows all the characters i mean all of them!!!! she gets all excited when she sees the ad on the telly. when we were there the second she woke she would say mickeyland again?? (she cant say disney yet but im working on it)

I surprised my DD, then 15, last Christmas. She mostly never misses a trick, but I surprised her good and proper! Having booked the Eurostar and the Holiday Inn a month or two in advance, she woke up Christmas morning toa much smaller pile of gifts than her older brother had.

What I did was to print off the confirmations, then I folded them up and put them inside her Tigger woolly hat, which I then wrapped up. I also wrapped up the Pooh hat for myself, then on Christmas morning DH produced the presents and handed them to us. I'm not sure what she thought when she opened a hat she had owned since December 2000 (bought at DL Cali), but she promptly tried to hand me the pieces of paper, thinking they were mine!

I told her to read them, which she did, then said "That's tomorrow!" Her face was an absolute picture, very emotional. Then she produced some clothes that needed washing, pointing out that I really hadn't given her much notice, first time ever that I've done laundry on Christmas Day!

The downside of surprising them is you can't talk about it during the build up, I was so thankful for the DIS then, somewhere I could talk about it! I even had a coded ticker, in case she happened to spot it one day

We also surprised DD last Christmas. It was a present for her and my Mum. My mUm knew but DD didnt.
We were setting off on boxing day so bought her a new Cinderella suitcase and then on Christmas Eve when she was in bed we packed it, put a letter in from Belle (her favourite Princess) and wrapped it up in Chrismas paper. She opened it first as it was the biggest present there and at first thought it was just a suitcase. I commented about it feeling heavy so she opened it and found the letter. She didnt click at first so I asked her what it said and she told me she was going on Boxing Day but it still hadnt clicked so I asked her when Boxing day was and she shouted Tomorrow - we're going tomorrow and was so excited for the rest of the day.

We are also surprising her for her birthday in November - we are going the weekend after and telling her on her birthday but Ive not decided yet how to tell her
