Surprise Success!!

We did it - DH and I managed to keep our upcoming trip in feb a secret to surprise our children with today . We put 2 helium balloons (1 mickey and 1 minnie) in a large christmas bag with a letter on the end of the string explaining the surprise. Our DD(8) and DS(4) opened the bag and shouted "Yeah, thanks mummy and daddy, we love balloons .
DD then noticed the envelope and read the letter. To say they were surprised is a complete understatement. . We are now having a great time filling them in on all the plans we have been making for months and getting them to try on skisuits, gloves etc.

Sounds very similar to us. Kept our plans secret until we told our daughters (also 8 and 4) this morning. We used a box of disney pins (the wonders of Ebay) with a letter explaining how they can trade these in March when we go to Sequoia Lodge. Like you say it really is liberating to be able to look at the holiday brochures, DLP books, without hiding them from the children!
