Last May we had a meal of a lifetime at California Grill, being served by one of the best servers ever, a guy called Ron. At the end of the meal he asked for our address saying he would send the kids some of their favourite american snacks. I was a little sceptical thinking he must see hundreds of kids a week, and it was a good way of making us feel special, and getting a large tip:rolleyes1
Anyway, the postman has just delivered a huge package from Ron covered in Mickey stickers, full of huge packets of every flavour of Cheetos known to man, mickey sequins and more stickers, and a lovely hand written letter:cool1:

The cynic in me is thinking, why would he do this?:confused3
Maybe i should accept it in the manner it was given, just someone being very nice and doing their job extremely well!

I think that is a lovely gesture. Sometimes CMs just like to do something to make your day special. Take it in the manner with which I'm sure it was intended :thumbsup2

It's easy to be cynical, and I can totally understand why you would be. :)

Looking back at my time there there are a few people and families who were so nice and calm, sometimes when I was 'weeded' and sometimes when I just needed a friendly face, that you do want to keep in touch and sometimes go a little bit more 'above and beyond' than you normally would!

One of my greatest regrets of my time there was losing my service pouch...and my favourite guests email address, I often wonder how she and her husband are getting on and wish I had a way to contact them.

Oh I think thats lovely!

I guess there must be lots of CM who genuinely do feel the Disney magic and want to share it on with guests who have been nice. There are so many people out there who are demanding on holiday that you must have done something to brighten his day.

I would take it as a lovely gesture and remember to look out for him on your next trip:)

how fab :) Ron, is a highly requested server at the CG. Many will wait a lot longer for their table, just so he serves them. :thumbsup2

We befriended a cast member at Chef Mickeys on our 1st visit. Like you we thought- oh he probably says that to everyone.
however years later when we visited, he remembered us and all our names.
We were also given some lovely gifts, my fav being a fantastic cast member pin of the castle.

sometimes, there are just wonderful people in the world. :goodvibes

To return the gesture I've put together a little package for him full of British chocolate, ones that i think he won't be able to get like Cadburys fruit and nut, minstrels, crunchy bar, double decker, wispa etc.

Thats two servers we've met who have gone above and beyond, Oscar (Yachtsman Steakhouse) and Ron:goodvibes

I'd have been more sceptical about giving my address to a relative stranger who knows I'm on holiday and there's no one in my house. Having said that, it looks like he's come good.
