DBF enjoys WDW but does not it the way I do. He is wonderful about going but I do the planning (fine with me!)
Last year I booked the Around the World on a Segway Tour and we both loved, loved, loved it. Looks like the new one at Ft. Wilderness won't be up by then.
I'm looking for ideas for this year. Neither of us would like a MK tour. He doesn't really like water (will do a water park but not the AquaSeas Tour or Dolphins).
I was thinking about an AK tour. Anyone have any ideas? It is a short (four full days) trip so I'm not sure we want to lose half a day to the Richard Petty Experience - as I'm not interested.
Oh - 36 years old and fit but horseback riding is out - both have allergies.

Thanks for ideas

It's not at Animal Kingdom but at Epcot. What about a Behind the Seeds Tour? $12 and a hour long.

Not sure where we disconnected here. I can't figure out what you thought, I thought was at AK? :confused3 Did wonder if anyone had opinions on AK tours?

Anyway - I've ruled out any MK tours (he's not big on MK). And any of the water ones at Epcot (I'd love them but this is for DBF). I read some reviews of Behind the Seeds that made it sound more for kids? Thoughts?

Anyway - would like something that is around the 3-4 hour range - very adult male friendly.
Any ideas? I could ask but would like it to be a surprise. I so wish the rumored new Segway tour was up.

Have you guys done the Keys to the Kingdom tour? It is a behind the scenes tour of the Magic Kingdom. Very informative...you get to go into the utilidors, ride rides with your guide and learn tons of "inside" facts. It takes about 5 hours and lunch is included. It is a great way for adults to see the Magic Kingdom...and a great way to see it fresh if you have been a few times. :thumbsup2

Like I said, he's really not a fan of MK (and I'm not a huge one either). I wouldn't want to plan a surprise for him that is all about his least favorite park.
Thanks for the idea, though.

My DBF and I are going in Feb as well. It will be our first trip to the world ever. I am strongly considering doing the Behind the Safari tour at Animal Kingdom. They take you behind the scenes to where all the animals are and show you how they take care of them and all the information on them. It seemed like a lot of fun. you should check it out!

My DGF and I are going to Fort Wilderness to do the campfire movie thing. That might be something fun for you to do.

Have a great first tip. You will have a ball. I am looking at that tour and more likely, the Wild by Design. The Around the World on a Segway is awesome too.
Part of our issue is that I've been going all my life. First trip - 1972, while still in diapers!
He's been to Epcot twice and every other park once. So, while I've done most things that have sounded interesting, I have done rides and shows that have been closed for years and he still has a lot to see and do for the first time.

So - for the first timer -
When will you be there?
Where are you staying?
DDP?
Do you have your dinner ressies?
Do you have a touring plan?

Aww thank you SOO much! Your extremely lucky to have been going your whole life. I've never been --> 18 years of waiting and I am READY. My DBF has been once 13 years ago when he was 9. Lets just say it was for about 4 days and he cant only remember his autograph book. : ) I think it will make it more fun because you have been so many times. God, what I wouldnt give for my DBF to be a seasoned disney expert since Im a little freaked out about being the "tour guide" when I've never been there in my life!

To answer your questions (which I love by the way!) -->
-We are going Feb. 13th - Feb 23rd. So we will be there for our 4th Valentine's Day which will be pretty romantic. I did not even plan it that way, the plane tickets were just cheaper!! : )
- We are staying at POP .. which I've heard really good things about. Basically I just want to use the opportunity for some extra photo opts. with all the giant sized props!!
-We are doing the DDP.. thank god! I really dont understand how people DONT do it! .. its a godsend and I would probably be lost there with all the food options if it were not for the DDP! .. however we'll see how it actually works out when we get there!
-Yes I have made ALL of my ADR's. To give you a brief rundown in order of days - Planet Hollywood, Coral Reef, 50's Prime Time, Le Cellier, Sci Fi Dine In, Boma, Mama Melrose Fantasmic Package, Tonys Town Square, Les Chef de France, and Ohana. We also booked the Pirate and Princess Party on the 15th and Cirque du Soleil - 5 row dead center (yay!) for the 21st.
- As for touring plans.. I have bought almost every guidebook there is and recently recieved my Passporter in the mail. I have made an extremely detailed intinerary but have yet to map out my "specific" touring routes. It will be done and ready to go though by the time we leave!!

.. wow I love answering questions like that. Can you tell I've put a lot of time and thought into this trip? I spend all first period (yes im a senior in highschool!) on the disboards and have been a planning nazi to the point where my parents think i should become a travel agent! ..

So when are you guys going??

It will get busy the secong 1/2 of your trip - so do MK early. I avoid it on weekends and the next week - as you know, is Feb. break for a lot of school in NY (which is why I'll be there then - teacher) and Mass (which is why you'll be there). Weekend is a good time for the water parks - there are usually a lot of locals on weekends but Feb. is too cold for them.

POP is a lot of fun. If you want a quieter location, as for top floor facing away from the pool.

You have quite a variety of restaurants. LeCellier is a favorite. 50s PT is fun - if you don't tell the people you are with about the theme (and they have a good sense of humor) you can really embarrass them. We live fifteen minutes from a Planet Hollywood and are a bit old for that anyway. Advice - pay OOP for a quick breakfast on the way to the bus and use you C/S for lunch. Hit lunch by 11:15 to avoid the crowds unless your dinner ressies are quite late.

If you haven't booked your tour yet - think about the Segway tour at Epcot. It is very fun and informative. 15% off if you have AAA. Bring ID - they will check because at 18, they need to make sure that you can legally sign the waiver without a parent.

Have fun.

Have you thought of www.giftsofalifetime. I think that the prices are about what one of the tours cost. Jane will plan an event tailored to your DBF.You can decide which park for the event-it's a great surprise. She did one for my 12 year old DD that took her to every country in Epcot and to Future World too. My daughter saw and did things in Epcot that she had never experienced up to that point. The thing is that Jane would custom do the event for your boyfriend taking his age into account. Look at her page and fill out a form if you're interested. She'll send you ideas of events. Just remember that if you haven't received an event by 3 weeks before the trip, email her to remind her. She not only planned the event but purchased gifts for my daughter from every country as a prize for completing the event. The prizes,of course, were an extra cost but something that I requested. It truly is a gift of a lifetime. My daughter says she will never forget how much fun she had!!
