We're going down in two weeks. Ds 14 has been 3 times and is now at the age of "whatever". This is the first trip without dd23. I was thinking of sneaking down a special present and slipping it to a cm somewhere, but I need something that's not lame for a 14yr old. Any ideas?

First of all, you sound like a great mom for caring so much.

I come from a family of 3 boys and we went to Disney several times when we were that age. I think one thing that we all thought would be cool to do is the surfing lessons that are offered at Typhoon Lagoon early in the morning. I think they are a bit expensive, but it would have been so cool to do that. Seeing that he has been there 3 times leads me to believe that you have already done DisneyQuest and seen La Nouba. If not, both of those are also great options. Hope this helps.

hm ... i agree with the other poster ... the surf lessons sound AWESOME.
i dont know whats lame for 14 year olds these days .. but id be down with the pirate makeover :woohoo:
or maybe just get him a disney giftcard so he can go on a small shopping spree!

If he's a Nascar fan (or would just like experience) you could surprise him with the Richard Petty Experience! You'd have to check on the age requirements though... 14 might be too young

good luck! what a great mom :)

Thanks for the ideas. I never thought of the surfing lessons, will look into that. And the giftcard never entered my brain. I can't remember, do they sell them at the resort shops. We check into the Sports first, then last 2 days at AKL. Funny that you mentioned the richard petty thing. I'm doing that. Mil gave me the ride-a-long for christmas present, so we're going to daytona one morning for that. DS is the only one in the family who doesn't like nascar, (I must have dropped him on his head when he ws little).

How about an Epcot Segway tour? We tried them in innoventions and saw one of the Segway groups who were having a great time! They had a wonderful CM as their guide. I think there is also a Segway tour at Fort Wilderness or WL...not exactly sure.

Hmmm....I don't know how expensive some of the other suggestions are, but maybe a resort arcade card.

I just got off the phone with allstar front desk. If I buy a arcade card and leave it at the front desk they will but it in a card from mickey and have housekeeping leave it in our room. Think I'll do this, since we found about the shark experience at sea world and signed it up for that. He absolutely loves "shark weeK" and is bragging to all his friends that he's going swimming with the sharks.

Glad that worked out. What a great idea and the shark swim sounds thrilling :scared1:!

has also "been there, done that" and I have him signed up to take the surfing lessons at Typhoon Lagoon (they are prior to park opening so an early rise in mandatory). He is super excited about trying it!
