I am planning a trip for Spring Break 2019 with my family (2 adults and one child who have been to WDW a fair amount of times) and another family (2 adults and 2 kids ages 9 and 4). The family joining us are all seeing WDW for the first time. They are driving from Tampa the Monday of spring break and will arrive early afternoon. The kids do not know they are going to Disney. My daughter doesn’t know her best friend is joining her at Disney. We are all staying at OKW.

The other family will have to drop luggage off at OKW and turn in a rental car. I would like to do some kind of reveal to the kids that they get to spend the week together at Disney. However, I am not coming up with an easy way to do that. The other family doesn’t know their way around Disney and I am concerned about mid-afternoon spring break crowds. Anyone have a suggestion for a really good way to have the kids meet up and realize they get to see disney together?

Set it up like it's a new/special/OKW appropriate (based on the theme) meet and greet. Have your child line up somewhere there (admittedly, I don't know the resort) maybe with the help of a CM right before the other family gets there. If there's opposite doors they each could walk in, that would work. One comes in and then the other - surprise.

I was thinking staying at OKW. The kids are going to want to swim and play. Not sure how to make a special moment at OKW without our room being ready. If our room was ready, we could have the girls go through the door connecting the studio and the 1 bedroom.

You guys can use the pool if the room isn't ready. Have the other family go to the pool too. Casually spot them and bring to your daughter's attention how much that family looks like so and so... she will look then should be surprised

I think that is the best bet! I talked with the other family today. They are going to drop their car at the airport and pretend like they are going home. They will tell the girls as they go to get on Magical Express.

I was picturing the old rope drop ceremony at MK where the characters would arrive via the train at the station.

Maybe it would be nice to have family 1 get onto the train at Fantasyland under the guise that family 1 mom wants to ride it to Main Street - then have family 2 plan to get onto the train at Main Street under the guise that family 2 mom wants to ride it to Frontierland. Then the parents get to take video of the other kids' faces as they recognize their buddies as the families meet as the train pulls into Main Street station.

However way you decide to arrange things, I hope the kids have a great time!

We had a similar situation in which they all knew we were going on a trip, but I lied about where. Then, when we wome them up to get dressed I told them they were missing something and I gave them their magic bands. They freaked.

At this point, the kids will think they are flying home and then get magic bands. Jump on the magical express and we will meet them as they get off the bus.

Hope it all works out...take pictures of their faces when they realize who that family is
