Just received my tickets from Undercover tourist. Everything was fine and a decent discount.

Also got a car rental notice in the package for 50% off car rentals. I needed a car to go from Orlando to Atlanta on the last day of vacation to drop DS off at Georgia Tech.

So The price for the same car that I had previously booked ($115) was now $60. I cancelled the higher rate with Alamo and booked through Undercover tourist. I was very pleased with myself until I got the email confirmation. There it stated that there was an additional $213 destination fee charge to be paid at time of rental. Never saw that on their website. Called UT and they confirmed that a one way rental through them incurs the fee. I then cancelled UT and rebooked through Alamo back at the original rate. Annoying. Oh well.

It's not unusual for one way rentals to incur a fee. I zipped over to UT. Maybe it's new, but they do mention the fee. It's in light print, though.
There is an i in a circle with a message about an additional fee under the add to the cart button after you have selected a rental.

You did the right thing shopping around. That is particularly important when trying to book one way rentals out of state. Those fees can be really high.
Glad UT was helpful. Hope your son enjoys Georgia Tech!

do not hire a car via UNDERCOVER TOURIPOFF, no insurance included - expect a $400 suprise when you collect the car from budget

Where was the $400 surprise coming from? The one-way fee as discussed in this thread, or from insurance? Insurance is a choice you make, it's not required.

And you should NEVER expect insurance to be included, unless you're booking with a rate that specifically includes it.

From insurance, none is included and we were forced to take some as it had None! - do an Ebookers comparison, Ebookers have a better contract with Budget, than UT it turns out..

Most car insurance policies held by people living in the United States cover the driver when operating a rented vehicle. It's not included because it's not standard here. I imagine if you hold a foreign driver's license that they do automatically add insurance as you would not have an American insurance policy and you will d leaving the country after rental, making it very difficult to pursue you for damages or loss.
