Surprise booking today

So wasn't expecting to book today but apparently the deal was to good to pass up so we are going August 21 to the 28th and staying at the AKL. What are the crowds like during that time? Its our first time staying in AKL so whats it like? Last year we stayed in the Nemo Suites so I think this will be a nice change for us. Thanks for the feedback

I have never been in August, but did stay at AKL in January of 2013. It is so beautiful you will love it! The lobby is breathtaking with lots of African art. There is a nice quick service restaurant (The Mara) as well as Boma and Jiko. We ate at all 3. Very yummy. Also the grounds are spectacular. It's nice to walk around and look at all the animals. Bus service was good as well. You share a bus with Kidani.

We went this exact same time in 2010 and it was hot and crowded but a lot can change in four years! I'm guessing it may still be crowded due to it being right before schools start back up. But either way your going to be in WDW right? Crowded or not you will have a great time!

We are from canada and go that time of year often as our schools don't start until after labour day. We find the crowds quite reasonable since many u.s. School districts are back in. Yes it is hotter than the surface of the sun!

As fit AKL we love it! We are dvc members and that is our home resort

It's hot and busy in August. Yet, we go every August. Some years it rains everyday for an hour or so, some all day long and other's we've had no rain. It's less busy than June or July, but still busy. When isn't Disney busy though? I went in January and it was busy. Have not been on Peter Pan in years because it's not worth a fast pass and not waiting in line for an hour for it!

Thanks for all the feedback!! We went last year in September and it wasn't to crowded so I'm afraid of the big change but I'm going to stick to Easywdw suggestions and we will be hitting rope drop to most parks. This is our first time staying at a deluxe so I'm really excited
