Howdy folks!

We just returned from a lovely trip to WDW on Monday night. We planned this trip just a few weeks ago and planned it as a surprise for our two kids. We were able to hold out on the secret until the night before we flew to Orlando - and needless to say our "cherubs" were surprised beyond belief and excited to go.

We arrived at BCV Friday mid-afternoon and were able to check-in right away. We had a studio on the 1st floor facing the woods next to Epcot (Rm #149). The room was absolutely delightful and everything was in working order. This was our first stay at BCV and we really enjoyed the resort and the close proximity to Epcot. The cast members were very nice and helpful. We ate at Beaches and Cream one night - what a good meal! The kids also loved Stormalong Bay - they didn't want to leave! We would definitely stay there again!

On a side note - we got a couple of chuckles at some of the pictures around the resort. We're from Cape May and noticed a lot of pictures from around town. When one enters the main entrance (near Ariel) and house picture on the left is the Abbey Bed and Breakfast and the one on the right is affectionately called the "Pink House". One of the pictures in the room itself is an artist rendition of Beach Avenue in Cape May. My husband got a good laugh from that. Actually, his response was "I travelled 1000 miles to look at pictures from home and streets I patrol everyday - go figure!". We enjoyed the familiarity of it all.

Can't wait until our next Disney fix!

Thats good too hear! I cant wait to try BCV! I am thinking of doing 1 wk SSR 1 week BCV on our next trip. :sunny:

Glad you had a great trip! I'm going to be surprising my 3 kids Feb 20-24. They have no idea, especially b/c we have a big trip already planned for August.

LOL about the pictures from home. I felt a teeny bit like that at Saratoga Springs. My DH works outside of Albany and we almost bought a house in Saratoga Springs, NY. We looked extensively there for homes for many months so a lot of the street names and pictures at Saratoga Springs felt familiar.

Glad you had a good stay.

Very cool to know about the Cape May trivia....I'll check out those pictures next trip with a new interest!

Hi,

Glad you had a good time!! Thanks for sharing!

Nice job keeping the trip a secret until the night before. It must have been a treat to watch the kids' faces light up. :sunny:

I'm glad you had a wonderful time and that you enjoyed BCV so much. I'm headed that way very soon, and your report helped build the excitement!

I've always wanted to surprise my kids - but I can't keep a secret! We'll be at BCV in 2 weeks - how was the pool rehab going? It sounds like you got to use SAB...

The pool rehab looked "discreet" for lack of a better word. SAB is open on the side closest to the Yacht Club. The pool that's about 2 ft. deep with the zero depth area is open and so is the deeper lazy river pool (depths from 4.5 feet to 7 feet in some areas). The pool railings in the construction area are covered up with tape and the slide is closed. There is a white wall separating the area but it's probably only 3 feet high.I would not say the area looks like an eyesore at all. I did hear a lifeguard say to a guest that it may be open mid-February, but I would only say that it's a rumor. Hope the info helps!

Too funny about the Cape May pictures. We go to Cape May every summer (gone maybe 12 years so far--yikes!--where does time go!). I'll have to check out the pictures--maybe it will feel like a double vacation for us. We're staying at BCV for the first time this summer. :cool1:

Thanks for the update on the pool - hope the lifeguard's right - we'll be there Pres. Day weekend - so half a pool would be crowded then, I'd think....
