Originally, my DSis was going to 'drive' us to the airport & then we'd surprise DD with the news that her aunt was coming along. Now, due to scheduling conflict, we'll be flying out of 2 different airports. However, we'll land at the layover airport about 10 min. ahead of DSis & then fly on to Orlando together. Any great ideas on how to surprise DD other than just meeting her aunt at the gate?

Maybe you could just let her notice her aunt? Just kind of go to the gate, and take your seats and see if she notices her. Or maybe let her notice her aunt on the plane? It might be fun to see how long it takes her!

You could have your sis board the plane later than your family and then have you sister sit in the seat next to you daughter.

Both great ideas. However, I forgot to mention that we have an hour & a half layover. Sis is thinking about ordering a pair of Mickey ears ahead of time & get off of her plane wearing them. Then, we may just hang out & see how long it takes DD to notice her. Hmmmm....keep the ideas coming!

BTW- I love the idea of DSis just sitting next to my DD on the plane. But, I hate to try to avoid each other for the hour & awhile layover.

Would your DD recognize her aunt's name? (My 7 year old probably wouldn't, lol, maybe yours is more perceptive!) Perhaps you could get the gate personnel to make something of an announcement? "Sue Smith, please meet your party at ______."

Or- reverse it, see if they would announce "{DD's full name}, please meet your party at ____" (the food court, play area, some landmark near your gate.) Your DD is totally perplexed, then the "party" is auntie? (with her ears, and a noise maker/confetti, to make a "party". :)

Could you get your sister to download a Disney ringtone for her cell phone? Arrange to have her near you at the gate area but where your daughter can't see her. Tell your daughter that you should call your sister to say "hi" to her. Her phone will ring with the Disney ringtone and your DD will look to see where it's coming from and see her aunt.

OK, not to bring up an old thread, but I just had to share my sister's crazy idea. She thought that she could put on Mickey ears & hang a sign around her neck that said, "I'm lost, can I come with you?"

:rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Yeah, that's a great idea if you want to be propositioned by creepy old men who have Disney fantasies! Needless to say, she scrapped that idea & we're still trying to work something out.

I would sit in the gate area and let her aunt come surprise her from behind. Say Boo or something and have her turn around to see who it is. If dd is playing her ds or something she doesnt twitch in that seat, Dh scares her all the time when he goes to the bathroom.

f you use the bathrooom in your gate area, I dont think it would be hard to keep them apart for a while. Just have your sister stay away from that area.
