I would love suggestions for activities for DS(he will be 4), DH and my DDad to do at one of the resorts while DD, my DMom and I enjoy tea at the Grand Floridian. We will be staying offsite (no flames:laughing:) at Wyndham Bonnet Creek, but wondered what special activities I could book for "the boys."

I want to keep it somewhat inexpensive, comparable in price to the afternoon tea and would like it to not revolve around food. DS has severe food allergies which requires us to bring his food with us, so food doesn't really excite him. He loves sports or anything hyperactive.:rotfl: Is there fishing that isn't excursions? We will not be visiting a park that day. This is our "rest" day. (I already have the Pirate League booked for DS and DD the day before at MK.)

Thank you in advance!

The mouseboats are really fun. My son was five when we took him on them and he loved them.

This would just be for your DS, but what about Disney's Pirate Adventure? The kids only need to be 4 to go. They explore and search for buried treasure. There are actually several pirate adventures. The one I mentioned is at the GF. My kids did it a few years ago and really enjoyed it. If I remember correctly, the resort that you are staying at is not far from CBR. There used to be a pirate adventure at that resort too. It is located all on that property so it might be better for a younger buckcanneer. I would mention the food allergies too. They usually serve snacks.
Or if they are sports fans, they could check out ESPN Wide World of Sports.
Just a couple of suggestions.

I agree with the little pirate adventure PP said. My two older children did this a few years ago and I think they were a little too old for it (lady on the phone said they wouldnt be! LOL!) but even though they were some of the older kids, they still had a good time. They get to go on the boat and make a little adventure out of it, they did stop for lunch, wihch was a PB&J and idk what else. I think it was very reasonable in price (around 30) but no adults go with them.

POR has fishing available. They could rent fishing poles there and go cane pole fishing. DS always wants to do this but we never have enough time. Then they could pick up lunch at POR and enjoy the playground?

Also they have the boat rentals as others have said.

They have the petting farm at Wilderness cabins and I want to say they have some horse back riding.

Another option would also be to rent bikes at one of the resorts. If you havent been to POR I reccomend there, it is a beautiful resort.

Minigolf was already mentioned.

One of the waterparks? If he is into games, Disney Quest would be ok, my DD4 isnt really into games, so I think it wouldnt be that fun for her. We have taken our older kids here and they enjoy it.

What are your son's food allergies? If peanut is one of them, I would NOT do the pirate adventure. They serve PB&J.

My daughter has a peanut allergy. Disney is so accommodating when it comes to food allergies. At most places we went, the chef came out to personally talk to us about her food. At Raglan Road, the chef said, "Don't worry about the menu-- just tell me what she likes, and we'll make it!" Even at one of the CS snack stands, the CM was able to whip out the manual and let me read all the info, which clearly states what is safe and what isn't. And any place that serves PB&J usually serves the Smucker's pre-wrapped sandwiches, so the PB doesn't contaminate the equip or the CMs.

Having said that, our 2013 trip will be our first time there with DS's severe corn intolerance. Corn is hidden in everything---it passes into the meat, milk, & eggs of corn fed livestock, it's in baking powder, most produce is waxed with corn-based food wax, etc. Plus, he has a severe citric acid intolerance, which makes almost all fruits and veggies off-limits. He has a very short list of safe foods anyway, and most of them are brand-specific, so we'll be packing his food for our next trip, too.

Fort Wilderness is a fun boy place, and it's connected to MK by boat, so it would be an easy place for y'all to meet up afterward, if you take the monorail over & the boys take the boat. Most of the moderate & I believe also deluxe resorts have Surrey Bike rentals. We rented them at POR and really loved them. POR also has fishing w/ old fashioned stick poles.

My son loves DisneyQuest as well, but be prepared to lose them in there for the rest of the day-- DH, DS8, & DD12 spent about 8 hours there, and they wanted to stay longer!

Thank you for all the ideas! The pirate adventure sounds so fun, but because of his food allergies, I would not send him away from me, especially with a boat with pb on it. He has life threatening food allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, soy, egg and dairy, and I can only imagine what a pirate adventure with pb hands would be like for him. :scared1: I am barely breathing just thinking about it, I can't imagine what I would be like for that time period! It does sound lots of fun though!

POR has fishing available. They could rent fishing poles there and go cane pole fishing. DS always wants to do this but we never have enough time. Then they could pick up lunch at POR and enjoy the playground?

This sounds like something all the boys would enjoy. DH is from Louisiana, so would probably love POR. (I actually really want to stay there, but need a kitchen for DS's food, hence staying offsite.) They all love to fish and this would be a relaxing time for all of them. Do people staying onsite get angry at offsiters for doing this though? I really am not trying to ruffle any feathers, just want something fun for DS.

There is free mini golf at WBC, so he will have most likely already done that throughout the week.

I have never heard of the mouseboats, but will be looking into them. Thank you all again!
