Years ago my kids took the surfing lessons at Typhoon Lagoon and they provided the surf boards. Most people travel from other states or countries, so bringing a board is unfeasible. The website now states that they no longer provide surfboards. So how can you take a lesson then? Is there a local place to get one for the day? When did they change this and why?

From what I'm seeing on the website they don't offer the surfing class anymore, it's only open and private surfing that can be booked. It's unfortunate, we loved the surfing class!

I thought open meant group lessons. I guess it means that if you already know how to surf, you can use their wave pool….for $270/$295 which doesn’t include lessons.

It is too bad because we have some great memories from those lessons and I wanted to treat my nephew to it this year.

Totally agree! We signed our grandsons up for a lesson years ago and it was the highlight of the trip for everyone. DD signed their Dad up as well, as a birthday gift. Three of us watched while three learned to surf, and I am not sure who enjoyed it more. The instructors were wonderful, and the wave pool is ideal for this kind of class.
