We enjoy it and think its worth it but worth is very subjective.

You must get up super early and have your own transportation. I don't know about life jackets. We have done it 3 times and have never seen anyone wear them. To do this you need to be a moderately strong swimmer or I don't think you will enjoy.

There are life guards in the wave pool with you and above watching. It is a very strenous and tiring activity. We have seen many have to sit before the end. We really don't plan to do much on days we have the surfing.

My husband did it several years ago on our first trip. He is what I would call a weak swimmer - he can doggy paddle for a bit but that's basically it. However, I would not take someone who was not comfortable diving to some degree - as when you fall off the board you need to go totally under and make sure you are out of the way of other surfers.

A life jacket I think would be a hindrance unless you are very experienced wearing one as it makes it harder to stand up and harder to bail off the board.

My husband loved it but there were very few small kids there. The youngest I saw was probably 10.

The surf lessons are 2 1/2 hours. It was something like $150 plus a tip for the instructor if you wish. Also need to factor taxi/uber or a rental car as you cannot get there in time for the lessons on Disney transit as it occurs early in the morning.

I read a review from someone who did it and he said that if you're not an expert swimmer and not in tip-top physical shape, expect to feel like you've been run over by a bus after it's over.

i absolutely loved it, was repeat WAS an athlete, did not find it too strenuous. getting up is not all that easy, but one good trip was worth it. i would do it again for sure

Thinking about booking this for my husband. Would I be allowed to attend just to watch? If so would there be a fee for me? Thanks.

Yes. My DSs did this and DH and I went and watched.

We did this a couple of years ago with our 9 yr old daughter - we watched/filmed, and she did the surfing. She did fine with the amount of activity, but she has always been a fish. There were fewer than 10 in the group taking the lessons.

When you taking the lessons, there isn't a life jacket, but you are attached to the board (Velcro strap around your ankle) and if you fall off (which she did almost every time), you can hold onto the board as if a swim board. For us it was well worth it.

We have done this in the past. It was a great deal of fun, but I was physically exhausted afterwards for the rest of the day. My young son recovered much quicker! :)

Did this a few years ago with my daughter. There are only 10-12 surfers per session. Lessons are before the park opens, so no Disney transport to get there. Everyone gets instruction on dry land, and then each surfer gets 10 perfect waves, with continued instruction. Cost was $165-?? for her, no charge for me as I just watched. She said it was worth the money for the experience.

My husband did it... He said it was exhausting... He is in the military so does ot regularly... Lots of push up type motions in the practice part her said... He hurt for a couple of days afterward.

I called yesterday to book. They are only running through the first week of Nov. Also on Nov 2nd & 3rd (I think it is) they are trying a new evening time at 5pm. We went with the morning class on Oct 31 instead. Thanks for the info!
