Surf Lessons question

Anyone tried to shot the surf lessons at Typhoon Lagoon? The boys and I are going to sign up for lessons on our next trip and my wife would like to take some pictures and video. I know that they allow spectactors, but I have no idea how far away they'll be. I'm trying to get a sense for what lenses she'd want to bring.

Also, does anyone know if they let you wear GoPros while you take the lessons?

DS's did this in 2006. I watched them from the right side of the pool along the bulkhead near where the waves start. I remember I moved up and down it as I wanted to. I scanned these 2 pics in so you can get an idea, I took them with my old Nikon 2020 with a 35mm - 70 mm lens not sure what the focal length is in these pictures. I wouldn't know about the Gopro.
