Yes, we are going, but the kids don't know (SHHHH... especially during the CP meet/Bun Con/Towncrier fest!)

How can it be done?

1) Keeping it a secret, we have almost blown our cover TWICE!!!

2) How to make it a game for them... how can we do it?

3) If you have suprised the kids, what was thier reactions like? Was it worth it?

Thanks!

I surprised my daughter with a trip for her 10th birthday. It was the first trip for all of us. I started gathering disney stuff, ordered several things from giftsofalifetime.com and filled a new suitcase for her. I put a huge frilly bow on it and hid it in the bottom of the hope chest. I then made a treasure hunt sort of game. I gave her one clue, which led her to the other, etc... and the final clue was the one leading her to the suitcase.

It was magical! It was so wonderful, I would do it again in a heart beat. She actually teared up when she opened the suitcase and saw all of her stuff.

We surprised our 5yo DD with a trip. We kept it secret all the way until we got to Orlando. How did we do it? DH is always going on buisness trips, in fact, he had just gone on one a month or so before. Every time he goes, DD says she wants to go with him. So, we told her daddy was going on a buisness trip and we were finally going to be able to go with him! We told her we were going to Memphis, which is a place he usually goes on buisness. The weird thing is, we had to go around a storm on the plane and we went through Memphis so it was a totally believable story. She was so surprised when she realized where we were. Later on she got mad because we didn't tell her, but she still loved it and the reaction was PRICELESS.

Oh, one other thing. It was soooooo funny. Since we had to wake up at 4am to leave for the airport, DD was still half asleep when she got dressed. I knew this was going to happen, so I made a special shirt for her. On the back it said, "I'm going to Disney World But I Don't Know It Yet." She didn't even notice the words on the back of her shirt when she was getting dressed. The people at the airport would read the back of her shirt and laugh a little and ask me if she really didn't know. It was soooooo funny :)
