I often use a seat cushion on my personal ECV but never thought to bring it to WDW. I'm planning out my next trip (Dec/Jan!) and thought about how much pain I end up feeling on certain bumpy or jarring rides - Like the wonderful jeep to view animals, the lovely car in Minnie & Mickey's railroad... would anyone know if I'd be allowed to take the pillow on those rides?

Makes sense for any restraint system rides - but what about for non- restrained or simple lap bar?

I think @DisneyOma used a set cushion on one of there trips
I brought one, but didn't need it on my last trip. I've been told here on the DIS that it probably wouldn't be allowed on attractions though. I had at one point tried to figure out how to add the padding inside my pants (such a look I got from my daughter, LOL!) for just in case, but that was awkward, to say the least.

I don't think it would be allowed on the Safari ride, as there would be a chance of it falling out of the vehicle and being a hazard on the savannah. Any attraction that has a ride track/vehicle would probably be a no as well? If it fell out, it could mess up the attraction mechanisms. I think you could use one for shows though - we didn't do any shows, as they were not open on our last two trips. And luckily the dining we did had cushioned chairs (even though I did have my cushion ready one day for a TS meal).

I've brought along a small unfrozen gel pack to sit on as well, but it only helps a little bit.

If you have a powerchair, there's an accessible Jeep, you just put your chair on it. Obv not going to work with a rental scooter.

We put it on with all the bags and pillows and popcorn buckets and chargers and all kinds of stuff.

Do you mean the accessible Safari vehicle?
Yep. There is one accessible space in the very front rowE0DF1244-F4DF-4D99-A050-70ABCC00041B.jpeg5FCAAC45-4850-4A8E-8FDE-71C7E2F0D94E.jpeg

A lap bar is a restraint.

You could probably get away with this on something like Small World or Pirates.
A couple things to keep in mind about the rides without restraints:
- most have hard plastic seats and may be too smooth for a cushion to stay in place
- many seats are fairly shallow, so a cushion may be too long to fit

DH has brought a cushion on many rides like Frozen, Pirates, Safari, Small World, Living with the Land, People Mover, etc.

The other part about bringing a cushion is that some of them can make you “taller” when you sit, and affect where your center of gravity is; that could make any ride more dangerous - not just for you, but also those around you.

Cycling pants (or shorts,) padded

Amazon or a cycling shop
I have "crashpants" from my skating days - I was going to remove the pads from those :)

Sitting on my donut cushion right now - it raises my hips up about an inch at the most, and my tailbone is about a cm above the seat. Not much of a change to my center of gravity. Anything firm enough to raise your center of gravity up two inches or more must be super firm or huge.

Good to know!
