Next month we will be arriving at MCO at midnight. We have never flown in at this time. What should we expect with the selection of rental cars?

I keep telling myself there will be plenty of cars to choose from because of all the people returning their vehicle at the end of the day.

And then I panic and say no way, all the cars will be taken and we will end up with a jalopy.

I know there is nothing I can do either way - I'll get what I get, but what is your experience?

Don't stress, there will be plenty of cars. :car:

You don't mention who you are renting from, but all the major's have a good handle on how many cars they need and when. They are ready for you.

People rent and return cars 24/7/365 at MCO. I would not worry.

Are all the rental locations open that late at MCO? There should be cars but not all compainies handle that well. I had a reservation with Budget at Jacksonville and was told they were out of cars for the day and I would have to come back the next day.

Jacksonville and Orlando are two different airports. I work at MCO and can only speak for MCO. My advice is to check the hours for the rental company at the location you wish to rent from.

The company I work for is a 24/7/365 operation.

I know they are different airports. I was relating my experience of picking up a car late.

I did not know that rental car companies were 24/7 at MCO that should make it no problem to pick up late.

We're renting from National/Emerald Aisle. Appears to be open 24/7, according to their website. Imagine being told at midnight to come back tomorrow! That might put a damper on things!

That would have been really bad if it was my family. It was three other skydivers and we spent the night at the airport waiting for them to open.

Alamo has the same hours.

Yes, National is open 24/7/365. Trust me, I know, I work there. :)

I am sure you do know they are different, I was posting a disclaimer prior to my post. As I said, I can only speak for National/Alamo/Enterprise. The others, I have no idea.

No. I have never rented a car at MCO. I was just telling the OP my experience with arriving late. I do not know why you did not approve of that. I did not reply to your post or disagree with what you said.

Do they continue to clean and reinventory the returned cars 24 hours? I've heard reports of sparse inventory late at night, I assumed it was because the returned cars were not processed late.

Nope, they turn into pumpkins at midnight.

:rotfl:

(I've arrived late and had excellent choices and I've arrived at noon to find my car class aisle empty!)

Debbie, not sure if they clean 24 hours a day, but, they do reinventory. They have a HUGE cleaning area on both sides of the airport which I know runs constantly till at least 11pm. It starts at some ungodly hour in the morning. We have two garages to fill for three different brands and we have massive overflow parking for cars that are cleaned waiting for a spot for a renter. And, yes, sometimes it is sparse, especially during heavy vactions times, but, we do our level best to provide a selection of vehicles. I left last night(around 11pm) with a full EA and Exec. aisle. Alamo side had a lot of cars also.

I don't disaprove at all, but, your experience had nothing to do with the topic, which was cars at MCO. Different airports do different things, that is what I was pointing out. It is sort of like someone asking about a bag of apples they want to buy and asking if anyone has ever bought them and someone pops in with a story about a bag of oranges they bought. Has no relivance.

Did you look at the subject of this thread? "Supply of rental cards at midnight??" I related an experience I had picking up a car at midnight. She asked about picking up a car at midnight.

In defense of gmeh1, the OP was asking about MCO not Jacksonville. Each airport is unique when it comes to operating hours. Some airports like MCO are pretty much a 24/7 operation because they are busier and have flights arriving and departing at all times of the day and night. Places like Jacksonville aren't nearly as busy and don't have the same kind of round the clock schedule that MCO has.

Your experience at Jacksonville isn't really relevant to the OP's question because they are two very different airports. What happens at one in no way reflects what happens at the other. It is nice that you were trying to share your experience but in this case it isn't helpful to the OP and her question (but it might be for someone travelling to JAX :) )

I travel all the time and I know when I am arriving on a late flight at a smaller airport that I better check times for the rental car companies because they may not be open and I have to find an alternative. Major airports almost always have rental car companies (at least the major ones) that are open 24/7/365.

That is why my first question was if MCO locations were open that late. The OP did not state what hours and I did not know that they were open 24/7. I would expect that Budget has the same policies at MCO that they do at JAX.

Your assumption would probably be incorrect for the reasons I cited earlier. Even thought the company is the same, their policies can vary significantly based on location. Always a good thing to double check when you are travelling to an airport that you aren't familiar with (or even if you are to double check to make sure that things haven't changed :) )

Yes, and I also read the post, which was a question about MCO. She asked about picking up a car at midnight at MCO.
Now, let's build a bridge and get over this.
