I would love some help starting a list of supplies to bring to our rental home at WH in October 2009. We have rented Mickey's Clubhouse, which a is 5 bedroom. There will be 6 adults and 3 kids. I thought if I could get a list together now, I could start buying supplies a little along the way. All help is appreciated!!!

Well what all does the place come with? LOL.

The one thing we've often had to run out and buy when renting from private owner is TP.

beach towels available?
Do you need a high chair, a crib (PNP)
What are you plans for food? Eating at WDW sometimes? Breakfast in unit?

I need more deets of your plans and your accomodations before I start typing. ;)

If you're driving down you could bring salt and pepper, sugar, dishwasher tabs, dryer sheets (this is my cutoff because we fly, the rest I buy when we get there) dish detergent, toilet paper, paper towel, laundry soap, garbage bags, personal stuff like soap and shampoo. If you're planning to eat in a lot you could bring seasonings etc from home.
You could find out from the owner if there is any leftover cleaning liquids, pool towels, pool toys etc.

Sorry guys for not enough info! we will be driving down, so we have no restrictions on what we can bring. I have spoke with the owner, who reports the home will have one roll of TP in each bathroom (already know we need more than that!) a few trash bags for the trash cans, and linens (towels, beach towels, bedding). It has appliances, cooking utinsels, and pots/pans. We plan to have breakfast in the home everyday and some dinners. Not sure about lunch yet.
We do not need any infant supplies or furniture. We will need a grill, but haven't decided if we will rent one or just buy a cheap one at Walmart when we get there.

Most rentals I've been in have had dish liquid/detergent. No laundry detergent. I've often found salt, etc there too. Sugar sometimes too.

To be honest, I'd probably make a list of what I want to be there. Survey the scene when I get there and then run out and buy what I need & leave it all when I leave. I really don't want to add packing all that to my stuff to do list anyway. Lord knows I've got to pack stuff for two kids and a DH - that's enough. :lmao: And it would irritate me greatly if I get there and most of what I brought is already there.

Now food - you could bring that but if you need to get milk, pop, water, etc you probably don't want to bring that with you anyway and are going to have to hit a store.

Some off the top of my head though:
salt
pepper
sugar
coffee
coffee filters
milk
cereal
maybe some pancake mix to make that one day (syrup now too)
snack food - chips, etc
aluminum foil for grill
cooking spray

TP
dishwasher detergent
laundy detergent (I usually just put some in a squirt bottle, like enough for two loads)
trash bags

Hmmmm.....

Thanks for the suggestion. I have thought about how dh is going to feel about cramming all of the extra household stuff in the jeep, along with all of the clothes and such I pack (I am a notorious overpacker). I would like to buy some stuff along the way though, so I don't feel like I am spending soo much money at one time. I appreciate all suggestions for my list and will start compiling it all into one after I hear more suggestions. Thanks everyone! Have a great day (we have ice here in central Illinois, so stuck in the house today):surfweb:

There have been some good suggestions here so I'll just add.

Wash cloths ... In my experience they are either not provided or you get 1 per person.
scrubber sponge
nighlight
Deck of cards

HTH

A few ideas, some already mentioned...

Lysol or Clorox wipes
napkins or paper towels
paper plates
Trash bags
dw soap
sponge, dish rag or those little disposable dish rags that have soap on them already
laundry supplies
shampoo, soap, personal type items
tea bags, coffee, filters, etc.
a few ziplock bags

You can always hit Walmart or Super Target once you get there for the typical milk, water (great to freeze for the parks), snacks, etc. I know as soon as I finish this, I'll think of all the little things we needed. Have a great time!

Thanks guys. Y'all have mentioned stuff I didn't have on my list already. I won't buy any food until right before we leave (for obvious reasons), but I want to buy as much as possible before we leave, as from the research I have done, prices are much cheaper here than in the WDW area.
Once I get the list together, I will sit down with dmil and dsil and seperate out the list so that one person is not stuck buying everything. All help is appreciated, as we have never stayed in a vacation home before. :goodvibes

One thing I can not do with out and do not thinkit is listed is tin foil for easy clean up. I put vegtables in it and grill with little clean up.

In all the times we have rented, homes have those cheap little wrapped hotel soaps in the bathroom. I would bring a small bottle of hand soap for kitchen/bathrooms as well.

Our rentals usually have a linen closet w/extra towels for showers as well as pool towels. Maybe bring an extra throw blanket. I'm not crazy about curling up w/one and I don't know if it's clean or not.
