We will be arriving to DLR in a few weeks. This is our first time to visit California. I want stop at a grocery store to get water and cheap snack to carry with us. We will be doing the So Cal road trip thing. We are renting a car and just hitting a lot of So Cal hot spots. Our first is DLR. I was hoping to find a store that has reasonable prices in a safe are. Can anyone give me some suggestions. I don't know the local chain name or anything. I see some walmarts and targets on mapquest. I have no way of knowing if these are in good/safe neighborhoods or not. Anywhere between john wayne airport in Santa Ana and DLR in Anaheim would be perfect!!!!

The Wal-Mart at Euclid Ave - north of DLR - has a large grocery section. Euclid Ave is just two freeway exits past DLR if you're approaching from the south. It's very close.

Yep, I agree....and this Walmart has a nice selection of Disney merchandise so you can pick up a few souveniors at decent prices too.

And yes, I would consider this a safe area....we always arrive rather late at night, check into our hotel and then hit this Walmart for supplies. Never have I felt nervous about kids and I being in the parking lot or the store....and quite often it's near midnight. Obviously, any area can have it's troublemakers, but it's not a "known" trouble spot.

I would do something different than the first two suggestions.

Since you are coming from John Wayne(the Orange County Airport) (SNA)

You can go up the 5, take the Garden Grove freeway west(22) and get off that on the Harbor Blvd exit.

Going north on Harbor you will pass; Albertsons on your right, Value Plus on your left, 7eleven on your right, Target on your right, and a Vons a long block to the east on Chapman(a cross Street).

We always stop at the Target listed above and mostly at night after the parks. We always tend to forget something that we need during the trip so this is nice to stop at Target and everything in one spot.

I live here, so obviously I don't feel unsafe :lmao:. I find it closer and more convenient to get off the 5 at the Ball/Harbor exit and head north, hang right on Lincoln and get to Vons.

I know there is a larger photo of this somewhere on the boards, cause that is where i got it, but if you save it to your computer, you can zoom in and see the names of all the businesses with you photo viewer, hope it helps, and if anybody else has the original larger photo please share.
