Supermarket

Planning a family dinner @ our new BLT home. We are renting a car so getting to and from the store is not an issue. So where is the supermarket located and is one better or (less expensive) than another?

Gooding's, at Crossroads is extremely expensive. Personally, we prefer the Publix supermarkets, there are several in the WDW area, I really don't know which would be the closest to BLT. They aren't the cheapest, but the have great customer service, and a nice bakery and deli. There is also a Super Wal-Mart, but I have heard it is the busiest Wal-Mart in the US, I do know from experience there is always a LONG check-out line and parking can be a hassle. Some folks also prefer Winn-Dixie. My advice would be to Google the locations and map them to see which would be convenient for you.

We prefer Publix. There is a Goodings in the Crossroads plaza near Downtown Disney, but we find them too expensive. There is also a Super WalMart close to property that has a full grocery section. The WalMart is very close to the Publix if you need to stop at both.

I agree - go to something off property - walmart and publix are your best bets.

There is also a "Super" Target near the Walmart. It was great, full grocery and everything. That's where we always go, not as crazy as Walmart. We also always make a trip to Costco for bottled water, diapers, and snacks. All of the bell services can give you specific directions to all the stores. At some of the resorts, they already have the directions printed out at the bell stand.

If you are looking for the closest it is probably Winn-Dixie, if you take the road to FW and go to the end take a left and then a right after the WDW warehouses and follow that road out to the main north south road, turn left and the store is on right. I would guess it is 3-4 miles (10 minutes).
