My friends and I will be arriving in WDW on 11/12. None of them are soap fans, but I am (I've been watching since I was about 4. I remember when characters who are now 5 years older than me were born :p) I know if I'm at WDW during SSW I'll regret it if I don't go. My friends don't mind if we spend some time there, but I have some concerns. I'm not the kind of person who gets "fanatical" - cool if you are, I'm just not, I'm kind of shy. Will SSW be way too much for me  ? I'm really only into GH. All I would want to do is get 2 or 3 autographs (depending on who's going to be there), get a few pics, and maybe go back later in the day to see the parade. Am I going to have to spend the whole day at MGM to do that? I don't know if I can handle crazy :teeth: soap fans for that long, and I don't want to put my friends through all the crowds for too long when they're not even soap fans. How does the fast pass system work for SSW, is it per autograph, or per autograph session? Will my friends have to get fast passes just to stand in line with me even if they don't want autographs for themselves? Also, is one day generally better (i.e., less crowded) than the other? I was thinking Sunday would be better than Saturday. Is that a good idea, or does it not really matter?

When I was there in 2002 MGM gates were closed on Saturday of SSW. Sun wasn't to bad that I recall.
In 2002 all the authgraph stuff was on residental street with each house front hosting a soap star or 2.

I'm not a soap person and just happened to wander down street and saw set up before things really got going that Saturday. I do remember MGM being crowded but that could have been from several factors, and it was my first trip ever to world.

I've never done it at MGM (hopefully next year, though if I see a great ap rate for November I might be tempted for this year), but I did go when they had it at DCA the last 2 years (unfortunately we don't seem to be doing it this year.). I've met a large portion of the GH cast (I watch GH and watched PC when it was on and have met almost everyone who was on that show) and so far all that I've met have been great. You just have about 30 seconds or so with the actor (unless they are the chatty type and a few are). They'll ask you name and sign the autograph to you (they have cards with their B&W pics on them--includes their real name, character name and show) and take a picture. Don't know how the FP works because we never did that at DCA. I would suggest that your friends stand on the outside of the line if at all possible if they don't want the autograph/photo. You can either hand your camera to one of them for the pic or to one of the cms.

I happened to accidentally be at the Super Soap Weekend about four years ago before I knew about this board. It was kind of neat. Very crowded that morning at the rope drop and I was worried about the lines but everyone ran to get in line for autographs and the ride lines I don't recall being too bad. You could perhaps get a few autographs while your friends hit the rides. I don't think it should be a problem.

:) I'd love more information about how Fastpass works for SSW - if anyone can tell me about that, I'd really appreciate it ::yes::. Also, when do the usually announce what stars will be attending?

I've been there for the past three years (yes, one of those fanatical people :sunny: ) and it is a bit crazy. In order to get autographs you must get to the park around 7:00-7:30 am (they open early to let people wait in line). Then they set up Fast Pass stations for the three different soaps. You must wait on line to get a Fast Pass for the person you are interested in. Each Fast Pass gives you a particular time you are assigned to meet the star you choose. Then if you want a second Fast Pass you have to get back on the end of the line.

Last year I was able to get 2 per day. The most popular stars always go first. The lines are very long, but organized for the most part. It is normally very crowded, but if you are there for the rides and attractions other than SSW you should be fine. As long as you don't mind cutting through tons of people. Millionaire also requires a special ticket since it is soap based on those 2 days.

Enjoy! I know I will!!
