i plan to stop over at disney world after my cruise -- since the port is in miami it's silly of me not to visit the mouse before i go back to connecticut.

it looks like the dates i am looking at fall around super soap weekend. how busy is that weekend? i was planning on staying at the dophin or the swan (i wanted to try the heavenly beds and i liked the idea of free wireless service), since these are close to mgm how busy do you think these resorts will be? should i try and book elsewhere?

i would appreciate any advice. thanks.

In 1999 we could not get a room on site for SSW. We decided too late and ended up at the Hilton in DD. Lesson here is book early for that weekend!

We were just there last November for SSW. We stayed at Poly. However, we did try to get a room at Beach Club and everything was booked over in those Epcot resorts. Therefore, I would suggest calling and reserving your room ASAP. As for the parks, I highly recommend you avoid MGM during that weekend, unless you are interested in the soap opera stars.

This year, SSW, Veterens' Day weekend, Festival of the Masters, Epcot Food & Wine Festival, and Jersey Week ALL fall on the same weekend! WDW will be pretty crowded, for November. Book as early as possible.

MGM is crowded for SSW, but if you can stomach the crowds, it's a great time to go on the rides, cuz most of the people are there for the celebs.

We were there a few years ago, and despite the crowds we were running back and forth between ToT and RnR all morning, did about 5 rides on each, no lines.

thanks for the advice. i won't be able to book it until the beginning of summer -- wanna make sure i pay for the cruise first. hehe. hopefully there will be "room at the inn" if not i don't mind staying elsewhere. my other choice was going to be akl. if i can't get that, then i guess it's back to the hilton in dtd.

the heavenly beds and the internet access really attracted me to the swan and dolphin.

The second weekend in November... the 12th- 13th.

The NJ teacher convention ALONE packs the parks. It's a running joke around my town that if you want to go on vacation, don't go to Disney that week because it'll be like you're still at home with all the people from local towns. :earseek: Your safest bet is to book ASAP and check for availablity every few days to see if it's filling up fast or not.

super soap weekend and jersey week ......why do i get the feeling that the universe doesn't want me to go to my happy place (disney) after my cruise. lol. :guilty:

i guess there won't be any discounts during that time. well all won't be lost if i can't stay at the resort i really wanted as long as i don't do a value....i would rather experience that with my nephew.

if i can't find anything maybe i'll go in december for the christmas party. although it would be such a waste to be so close. lol.

thanks for the help.

Does Jersey week precede SSW, or follow it?

The NJ Teachers Convention is the Thursday and Friday before SSW. I believe most NJ kids have Thur. and Fri. off, and the Mon.- Wed. schedule is 1/2 days for conferences. So my guess is that most of the Jersey crowds will be there the week leading up to SSW.
