Super Soap Weekend - 2006

Hello!

We are considering going to WDW in November for the ABC Super Soap Weekend... we've always wanted to go but have never done it! From what I have read the event is held at MGM and is scheduled for 11/12-11/13, 2006. So, here are my questions.. if any of you have ever been:

How much of a crowd does this event typically draw?
How far in advance should you book for a special event?
Are the stars accessible (ie. do they sign autographs and/or roam the parks/resorts like us "normal" people?)

Any info would be greatly appreciated. I'm really, really considering booking.

1. Huge crowds. Like New Years Eve huge.

2. Special events? Depends on what you mean. The official schedule of events doesn't get posted until a few weeks before the weekend, and the events are open to the public (although some of them require Fastpasses).

3. They do sign autographs, there is a very strict system in place which works pretty well. And some of them do then go into the parks with their families, but I woudn't bother them then - they are on family time.

If you do a search on the boards for SSW or Super Soaps Weekend, you'll find lots of threads discussing strategies for this weekend in detail. And welcome to the DIS!

It's VERY crowded at MGM, but the other parks are not too bad. They use FASTPASS to give out tickets to get autographs, and you have to get to MGM very early and wait in line if you want to get one, depending on who you want to see. Some stars run out of FASTPASS quickly....others last a bit longer.

It's lots of fun to collect the autographed picture they hand out for every soap star, and there are different events where you can see them, like parades, interviews, shows and street jams.

We have seen the stars at places other than MGM, like MK and YC/BC, but we didn't bother them.

All in all, it's a lot of fun!

Thanks for the info. Sounds like fun. We didn't plan on bothering the stars at all - just curious as to whether there were any chances of "star sightings" in other parts of the resort rather than just MGM.

I'll go check out the thread that you posted - it's starting to sound pretty fun.
