Super Sick Monday...

I missed this day several years ago due to genuine illness, and almost did again today. But, I sucked it up & got to feeling much better as the morning wore on.

I used take a vacation day back when I had to get up early and go to work. Today we slept until 11.

our District called no school after receiving a whopping 2.8 inches of snow with drifts up to 3 inches that occurred on Sunday and was done before the Super Bowl was!!!

Maybe that's one of those situations where they think there's going to be a lot of no-shows for one reason or another so they just cancel? Drifts up to 3 inches???

Yes 3 inches!!! We had to get the dog sled out to get the mail. We don't have dogs but the cats did pretty well in it. It got a little dicey in places!

Yes, funding is tied to attendance nowadays, so it's in the school's best interest not to have school if there are going to be a ton of absences anyway.

My kids had a 2 hour delay too. For "ice" - I do sort of wonder if the admins figured it was a convenient excuse.

I agree! There were some slick spots out there this morning, but we could’ve gone in on time.

Back in the days when I worked a 9-5 job, I made it in after every Giants' victory. I was tired but I made it in. All my fellow Giants fans made it in too. One guy took off to go to the parade one year, but he used a vacation day.

I did take a pre-arranged day off one year. I had spent the weekend of the Super Bowl watching my nieces while their parents were at a seminar. They also had a Super Bowl party, so the girls and I got the house in order and I stayed to help the clean-up. So I knew it would be a late night, so I took a vacation day the day after.

No sick day here! I was tired, though, and we had a delayed opening because of the snow and ice that we got yesterday. My daughter had no school -- Act 80 day that was scheduled at the beginning of the year.

I almost did... but not because of the game. I was home and in bed by 9PM, but I slept horribly. Took at least an hour to fall asleep, kept waking up, and then woke up at 4AM and couldn't fall back to sleep. So I nearly called in sick so I could get some rest. I pushed through it though.
