Super Goofs March Challenge

Carla: I have a DD13 and a DS6 (born on 9/11/01 believe it or not). DD requested the trip when we were throwing out ideas. We are staying at the Grand Hyatt Washington on the Metro line. A tour guide would be great, but just hooking up for coffee or lunch would be awesome too. Faces to names are beautiful to me!!!

Hi all! I'm so sorry I have been MIA. I feel so bad :(

Work is killing me (mentally and physically) and this past weekend I had my best friend in town AND I'm getting ready for my parents to come visit me next weekend. I also decided to join a roller derby team here in town and roller skating is quite a work out in itself!

Would you still like my miles/hours for last week princessrunner? I did pretty good if I do say so myself! :yay:

Kristi1357 Nevermind that I live with a major pack rat (love ya said:
Hey! I resemble that. Uh I mean resent that.

I am still in the challenge even though last weeks posting were non existent. The cold weather is really un-motivating for me and I have been dealing with an ITB isssue. Just wait till the warm weather gets here, I'll be making up my lack luster winter performance.

Chad: Glad you are still with us, maybe you can talk Kristi into returning when things straighten out for her.

ArelysAdriana: Of course we want your contributions from last week. All I ever ask is that when LTO, please, please, please let me know. Just a quick PM works for me!!

As for me: I had 60 minutes to run today. Being that I am trying to speed myself up, I decided to tackle my muddy loop which today, surprisingly was not all that bad. So, I made 5.6 miles in :59:52 :woohoo: average of 10:42 mpm with my last .25 mile as my burst at 7:28 mpm. Actually, I was going to wait to do my burst until later in the week but, DD13 bus was due at 2 p.m., it was 1:55 and I had to get into the driveway before I embarrassed her with my "stupid ugly green hat" (hey it's signature lime) so, I ran really, really fast, got into the driveway, removed the hat and walked up with my DD. :goodvibes

I have a chicken little hat (bright yellow w/red) that my dd is SO embarassed when I wear it!

Lisa, did you get my Friday miles/times? I posted late, sorry....

Angie: I have everyone's miles to here. I will be updating the spreadsheet tonight. I had to have some 911 assistance from Connie (Steffwalks) before I could add in more miles.

Will do! Again, I am very sorry.

Ok, so my miles/hours for the past 10 days:
Saturday, March 1 - 3 miles, 57:56
Monday, March 3 - 3 miles, 56:19
Thursday, March 6 - 3 miles, 55:35 + 2 hours of roller skating
Saturday, March 8 - 1 mile, 19:14 (I tried to do 3, but after working 9.5 hours my body and knees just weren't feeling it)
Monday, March 10 - 3 miles, 59:22 + 45 minutes at the gym

I'm only up to running 3 miles right now, and I'm averaging about 20 minutes per mile give or take, so I'm trying to speed myself up. I've only been running for about 3 weeks, so I think I'm doing ok?

Lisa, I didn't realize that you had some problems with the spreadsheet. If you need any more help, let me know. I work with Excel quite a bit.

Lisa--it's nice to know I've got someone in OKC if I need it...thanks for the offer!

Cecilia--I did a triathlon last 4th of July in Marianna...it was a blast! I'm thinking about trying to participate in one of the Spring triathlons in Panama City Beach before we move to OK. I'm a little worried about the open water swim (the Marianna tri swim was in a spring, so the water was cold but totally calm)...If I can get at least a month or so of swim training under my belt I'd feel much more confident, but our base pool doesn't open until Memorial Day.

ArelysAdriana--your doing great with your running...keep it up!

Thanks to everyone for such a warm welcome!

My stats for today:
3.5 mi/36 min (I also met this week's challenge goal, as I was running with my boss who runs at a much faster pace than me. We ran the first mile in 8:30 which is way faster than my normal pace of 10:00 min/mi!)

Also completed an additional 2.2 mi/29 min with DS as part of his 5K training.

So total for today was 5.7 mi/65 min

I did strength training tonight:

1 hour / 1 mile

Steve: 65 minutes / 4.25 miles

ArelysAdriana - you're doing great - especially for someone who just started. WTG!!!

Shannon - WTG on your mileage! I'll be in OKC in April for their memorial marathon (I'm doing the half). I hear it's a good one to do. I'm looking forward to it.

Thank you FLORIDA_GIRL and escape :goodvibes
I'm hoping to eventually speed myself up to around 10 to 13 minutes per mile. I'm scared of being swept up  but my first race isn't until September (Everest!), so I have time :thumbsup2

Updates:

Sunday...30 mins on treadmill/1.37 miles

Monday...45 mins on DH's new exercise bike/9.67 miles

Happy Tuesday! :cheer2:

Good morning my Super Goofs. We are off to a great start for this month. I have to add ArelysAdrianas totals but so far we are at 185.11 miles and 54.12 hours.

Susie: I would LOVE help on the spreadsheet. I tried to add spaces but the computations did not fill in when you add spaces. Right now, we are all set but if any more players are added (we are up to 20 right now!!!) I will need some assistance for sure. I had given OKC serious thought as my DSis just started back walking recently and I offered it up as motivation for her but she declined. One of those January starters, March quitters most of the time. I would still like to do it since it seems like a very meaningful surreal race. Let me know what you think!!

ArelysAdriana: You are doing awesome, especially for just starting. Having a goal is sooooo important to a lot of us and the one thing that keeps us going. That, and this game of course!!!

Shannon: You did a tri??? :worship: Cecilia will be so happy to have the anchor taken off her shoulders!!!! ;)

Speaking of Cecilia, the Panda has spoken and, yes, your warmup does count toward the totals. I am going to have to note this as I plan to run to the local events (15 miles-ish) and I can also warm up the team too. How exciting is that!!! Did I just say 15 miles??? :faint: OMG!!!

For me today, no workout as I have a staff meeting that I have to travel 45 minutes one way for. Then the 2 hour meeting and then the drive home. By the time we are done the meeting and I get home, it is time to rush around and make dinner. I dislike these once a month meetings as I have to make arrangements for the kidlets to get where then need to go. Until my mom returns from FL it is really difficult for me. Tomorrow is my midweek day off and I plan to take DS6 to school and hit the gym. Strength training has apparently been paying off in my speed :woohoo: so I need to make the extra effort to keep it up. Did anyone else do their burst yesterday?? :rolleyes1

Did anyone else do their burst yesterday??

Yes, Lisa--you "shamed" me into it. Today I did my 3 miles at what is becoming my normal pace--9:40. I threw in 3-30 second bursts of 8:30/8:00/7:30 (that last one was to match yours !) So total: 3.1 miles/30 minutes

Shannon--way to go on your fast paced first mile. While I can do an occasional burst at higher speed, I can't imagine running a whole mile at 8:30 (well--maybe if you held some chocolate out in front of me! ;) )

ArelysAdriana You're doing great with your running. Running 3 miles was a real mental jump for me, and you're already there! Don't forget to rest, though.

Maura

Maura: Sorry for the same...:guilty: but we are all headed for a PR sooner or later, right??? And for the record again, my burst was not supposed to be quite that fast, it was for fear of shaming DD!!! :sad2:

You are sooooo right though, I was just thinking yesterday rounding my loop on mile 4 that this was my goal last year, to run this whole loop and now, it is my 60 minute run!! Hopefully, soon, it will be my 50 minute run. :rolleyes1 In October of 2006, I ran my very first ever 5K and I did not think I would make it. If I had not been running with my 65 year old MIL, I probably would not. She paced me and talked me through it, except up the killer hill where neither of us could talk! :scared: Now I look at a 5K as a fun race. ArelysAdriana, you will be here soon also, especially at the rate you are going. You will also find that the rollerskating will help your walking/running a lot too. Any crosstraining is a bonus!!!!

Keep up the good work Goofs!!

Good morning Goofy's!!!! I did get to the gym last night......I have been loving the Pilates class, the only bad thing it's only once a week. We are trying to talk them into doing it again later in the week.

I got 15 min in on the recumbent bike before class.

Time: 75 min
Miles: 5.5

You are doing GREAT. The speed will come once your body gets used to the distance.

***Remember to concentrate on using the bigger muscle groups as you run. Or as my running partner likes to remind me "Use your big butt muscles." You have to think about using them because it doesn't seem to happen naturally. Here is some incentive: your glutes get denser (harder & smaller) with use and your calves get bigger with use. ***

I am off for a run. Cross your fingers that the pain in my legs does not come back. My old coach is taking off from work to run with me this morning so I will be in good hands. That and the temperature is 15 degrees warmer.

Cecilia

I got in 7.7 miles yesterday. I would guess 1.5 hours of walking and 20 minutes or so of running/jogging. Plus I had Pilates class, so that is 60 minutes on top of that.

Here is my run by post of the week :-(

Christy
Wednesday--Power Pump 55 mins Bike 30 mins 4.2 miles
Thursday--Run 2 miles 24:52
Friday--nothing (3 more crazy Fridays and I get this day back!!)
Saturday--Babysat all day
Sunday--nothing

Steve
Wednesday--3 hours of digging
Thursday--1.5 hours of digging (and he was really digging the whole time, I figure this is as close as we ever need to get to shoveling snow!!)

Good News--the termite stuff is all down, so that huge distraction is now over!!

I am off to read and see how everyone else is doing!!! I have Bible Study tonight, but I hope to get a short run in at some point! Steve is teaching today so I doubt we will get anything out of him inbetween his classes

Can someone explain to me the difference (and how it's figured) of "time entry" and "time calc" on the spreadsheet?

Thanks!
