Super Goofs Flying into February team thread

Hello team. No miles or time to report, I've been really sick this past week, went to the Dr Tuesday, again this morning and was sent to the ER. Spent 5 hours there running tests to make sure I don't have a bacterial infection. Good news is I don't. Bad news is its another sinus infection. They are a killer. Took a really nice nap in the ER while waiting for my results, got discharged, drove home and took another nap.

Anyways, great job everyone.

Mike, hope you are on the mend.

Looks like I will be walking the ESPN 5K, I was told no jogging for awhile so everything can heal as I don't want the ear, nose and throat Dr coming after me.

Hi Goofs!

I think I figured out the spread sheet....at least I hope I did. I have very little to report but its a start. I added weight lifting today. My arms are sore.

Suzanne - Take care of yourself, trust me you do not want to end up like I was in November. I should not have been running either and I think it caused me to be sick much longer.

Arelys - welcome back

Lisa - I know what you mean about "have to run." Ahh, you know you are a runner when....

Take care everyone!
Cecilia

Hey Goofs,

TGIF! That's for sure. Let's see, besides the impending pay cut, we now hear that roughly 1 in 6 in our location will be "involuntarily separated". So should be interesting to see how they make that determination.

Today had a tempo run on tap and was supposed to do a warm-up, 4 mile run, cool down. I just wasn't feeling it, though. I almost bagged it after 1/2mile! Anyway, I did 3 mile tempo pace instead of 4, so it was at least something.

Looking forward to the weekend.

Hope everyone gets some rest and mends their achy/sick/ailing bodies.

Maura

Morning All, I was out updating the spreadsheet so good morning Maura!!!

I ended up being sick yesterday and bagging my exercise entirely. DD14 has it today so we will see how she handles it. She says if the other girls want to hit the gym, she will do "whatever" (insert teen girl voice here). I have 5 on for today and no excuses, I will get it in. I have my flights, hotel and registration for CMM all done and now I have to get the training in!

I hope everyone has a great Friday the 13th!!! Things here are looking up, still icy but manageable. Have a great weekend everyone!!! :goodvibes

Another good week for the Goofs! I hope all those sick/hurt are recovering!

I am hanging in there, and the eating/exercise is going well. I actually got 2 hours in yesterday!

Have a good weekend!

Beth

Maura, hang in there and best of luck with the job. :grouphug:

I've gotten in all of my training runs this week but have been slacking off on XT days. We have family coming in tonight for our DD's 3rd birthday this weekend so we have been cleaning, planning, and cleaning some more. I probably won't be able to post much this weekend but I may need the escape by tomorrow night!

My exercise goal is to wake up early and get my training run in tomorrow before the party. I will also try to sneak away after everyone goes to bed to grab a few miles on the exercise bike to burn off some cake and relieve some family stress! :headache:

I hope everyone has a great weekend and wonderful Valentine's Day!

Got 6.20 miles in this morning. I tried something new. Jackie was sweet and sent me an extra copy she had of her Galloway book. I have been playing around with the idea of eventually doing a full marathon, but I was looking into Bingham and Galloway cause I'm thinking my knee wouldn't hold up trying to run the entire way. Actually, I know it wouldn't cause it barely lasts thru a half marathon. So since I'm not training for anything I decided to give Galloway a try this morning and compare my pace. I did a R3/W1 and my pace ended up being 10:48 - 1:07:03. I thought this was pretty good cause my last 10K I ran was 1:06:02. So basically a minute extra, but with lots of walking breaks. I think physically and mentally this is the way to go for a full, although I felt a little like I was cheating.

I went to this cute new park. It is a little of a drive, but it has this meandering one mile loop that has some short inclines - a decent little workout. Lots of water fountains along the path and really nice bathrooms. I so wish this park was a tad closer. It has the most awesome playgrounds, two dog parks, skatepark... It is so nice! It was also a beautiful morning. I guess alot of people were playing hookey cause it was packed!

I got a question. Does anyone know how to set the Garmin up for intervals with a goal distance? I can see how to set it up R3/W1, but it only has how many reps. I want to put in a distance. Anyone know? I had to keep looking at the timer and it was a pain. I really would have liked the beep.

Have a nice weekend Goofs! My oldest has a swim meet tomorrow and I'm working it. Should be fun!

Later!

Hi everyone!
Mike, thanks so much for adding me to the spreadsheet! I filled in my stuff and am keeping a manual record as well :thumbsup2

Suzanne, I'm so sorry to hear that you have been so sick. Several of my brood have had fevers and runny noses this week but so far so good ::knocking wood::: I haven't gotten anything. I love my neti pot- it has kept my sinuses clear since I started using it over the summer and I'm a sucker for sinus infections normally. Don't know if it's a coinky-dink or not, but I'm keeping it as part of my routine nonetheless :hippie:

Shan, congrats on the great run. I went out today and knew I only had time to do half my normal run and I'm on a run/walk training. After Wednesday, and knowing I wouldn't get my normal run in, I figured it wouldn't go well but I beat my best pace today! I'm a beginner (after at least 10 years away from running) and I was at 13:30 today :) I did the half marathon at a 15 min pace until my sciatic nearly did me in... so I'm determined to be in better shape next year! pirate: Oh! And I have been strength training in a circuit almost every day too!

Anyhow, I hope y'all enjoy your weekend- happy valentine's day!

Hugs,
nicole

ok, it wasn't speedy, but I got in 1.1 miles in 35 minutes.

Ice and Aspirin on tap for this PM....

Good job Mike and Nicole! :woohoo:

I have to gather up tax stuff today, BLAH! And DH is off doing his first 20 miler. But, we're all in good moods cause my daughter had a great swim meet yesterday! She got first in her heat AND overall in the butterfly! :yay: I was so happy for her I thought I'd burst! :goodvibes

Hey Hey Super Goofs! Sorry to be MIA this week, we had a lot going on! We went to the Rascal Flatts concert on Thursday night...it was AWESOME!!! Friday night I had lots of wedding stuff to do, then yesterday we spent the day at my mom's house for her birthday which was Thursday. I got to see my two nieces and nephew, which was a lot of fun.

On another note, I have had a really sore Achilles Tendon/foot for the last couple of days. I decided to rest for a few days and see how it feels. It definetely feels better so I will try to run again tomorrow, don't want to push it today as I have a hockey game tonight.

I will try to catch up with everyone later on while watching the Daytona 500!!!

Later Goofs!

My training for the Princess Half got sidetracked. I spent 12-16 hours every day from Feb. 3-Feb. 11 (including the week-end) in the Emergency Coordination Center trying to fight a computer virus outbreak at work. After coordinating the cleaning of 1200+ machines and reimaging 350+ machines, we finally got it under control on the 11th. Needless to say, no exercise happened for me in that time frame unless you count the long walk to the bathroom. Since then, my spare time has been spent catching up on sleep. I will get back on track today.

:faint:

Acronis reimage across networks? Always interested in a good imaging tool...

Good evening, Super Goofs! Just popping in to wish you all a belated Happy Valentine's Day and a great President's Day. Hopefully many of you are enjoying a three or four-day weekend.

Oh, yeah, and in honor of Mike's surgery, I'd like to donate my extra run, which I did in his honor. It's only a 5K and it's slow (because I am), but please add 5K and 45 minutes to your total..... Love ya, Mike!

I read a Galloway Half Marathon training book first followed by Marathoning for Mortals which Bingham co-wrote. I used to struggle with pain and injuries before going to a run/walk method back in August. Not only have I not had any pain but I have actually really increased my speed in longer races. I shaved nearly a full minute off of my pace between a 7-mile race just before incorporating run/walk and a 10K I did just after on a similar course. I found I run much faster during my 4 minutes of running so the 1 minute of walking doesn't cut into my time much. My running pace is now about 8:00 to 8:20 and my finishing paces have been between 9:00 and 9:30. I could have never run my first half marathon (2:07 pace) in October had I not taken regular walk breaks. I am a huge advocate of their programs!

I got a question. Does anyone know how to set the Garmin up for intervals with a goal distance? I can see how to set it up R3/W1, but it only has how many reps. I want to put in a distance. Anyone know? I had to keep looking at the timer and it was a pain. I really would have liked the beep.

I would love to hear the answer to this as well if you find it or anyone else responds.

For my training, I managed to do 4.5 miles of hill training yesterday and will do my LR tomorrow after family leaves. I snuck away for an hour today to rack up some bike miles.

Morning Goofs!! Sorry for the MIA this weekend. I ended up down and out with the flu... I feel much better today although still watching my food intake!

It is currently snowing here and it is not supposed to last long. I am hoping since I missed my long run yesterday that I can get it in this afternoon. I have to work this lovely holiday and not my normal shift either. I am on 6-2 today so I will NEED a long run after work to clear my head. The kids are home for Feb break and just another thing on my plate today.

I hope everyone is doing well and training hard. Thanks to Debra for her donated miles. You know I think you rock anyway, you just confirmed it to everyone else!!

Have a great day everyone!! :dance3:

Thank you very much!!!

Good morning all.

Had a reasonable weekend. Cooked up a storm on Saturday for dinner with our closest friends--and we keep a tiny circle of friends--and they announced that he just accepted a job at St Andrews (Scotland). Big change!

Ran 6 yesterday, and even though I was not looking forward to it, it went well. Today was weights & stretching.

Now I'm off to prep for a couple of potentially stressful meetings.

Laurie I'm not a NASCAR fan, but did check in on occasion to see the race status. Too bad that the rain shortened things up.

MIke Hope your recovery is going well.

See everyone later.

Maura
